Brief Summary

In this unit, students will learn the proper way to exercise and how to eat healthy. The knowledge that the students will gain in this unit will be helpful their entire lives. They will also learn why exercise and eating right is important to maintain a healthy and fun lifestyle.

Role as a Teacher

As a teacher, it is my duty to make sure that the student’s understand what exercise is and how it can help them all throughout their lives. Also, it is my job to make sure that each student understands the proper way to do every exercise that they will be learning throughout the year.

Role of the Parent

As a parent, it is your job to make sure that your child does not strain themselves while exercising at home and to help your child eat healthier. Also, it is your duty to make sure that your child gets enough sleep each night.

As a student, it is your job to come prepared to work out and to have a positive mindset for the day.

Some benefits of the unit are feeling better about themselves because they are exercising and having a healthier lifestyle.

Standards

Standard: Develop a nutritional program targeting goals for maintaining energy, appropriate levels of body fat, and muscle building.

Standard: Accept the responsibility as a leader or follower to accomplish group goals.

Objectives -Objectives: Create a food journal

--Student-centered activity: Have students write down what they ate weekly and compare to the previous weeks.-Objective: Create a weight-training program--Student-centered activity: Weight-lifting and cardio.-Objective: Volunteer at a community league team--Student-centered activity: Teach the children how to play the sport well.-Objective: Speak to the students about the benefits of volunteer work--Student-centered activity: Have students come to the ball park and help teach the little kids about the rules of the sport

Project-Based Learning Project-based learning is a approach to

teaching in which students look at real-world problems and challenges. It is believed that with this kind of learning experience students want to learn on a deeper level about what courses they are studying.

I will use this in my classroom by having the students work on projects about fitness and exercise so they can understand and see how important it is in life if you want to stay healthy.
