It became statutory with the passing of the Copyright Act 1911. The current act is the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. The law gives the creators of literary, dramatic, musical, artistic works, sound recordings, broadcasts, films and typographical arrangement of published editions, rights to control the ways in which their material may be used; so if a company was to use a product from Dr Dre, they would need to ask for permission to use his product. This doesnt apply to my work as my work is my OWN work/creativity. Discrimination Discrimination means the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.The Equality Act 2010 legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society. This doesnt apply to my work as Ive used both male and female and also Ive used a differentrace. My models clothing does not discriminate anyone as they are simple clothing which fits the different themes. Obscenity Obscene Publications Act 1959 is an Act to amend the law relating to the publication of obscene matter; to provide for the protection of literature; and to strengthen the law concerning pornography. The law makes it an offence to publish, whether for gain or not, any content whose effect will tend to 3. deprave and corrupt those likely to read, see or hear the matter contained or embodies in it. This could include images of extreme sexual activity such as: bestiality, necrophilia, rape or torture. This law also doesnt apply to my work either as my front covers are clean; images of a teenager dressed in a particular way (decent), no pornographic/explicit activities. Trespass Trespassing on to somebody elses land without a lawful excuse is an offence itself and is one of the rare forms of tort claims in which a claimant can bring a claim without having to prove any damage has occurred. However, it is not a criminal offence and so property owners must bring their claim in the civil courts This somewhat applies to my work as one of my locations for my photo shoot is in-between 2 houses that goes to both their back-gardens so Ill need to ask for permission to use that space. However my other 3 photo shoots are on public land (College) and in my own home. Ethical Considerations Representational Issues My work rules out other races as I have only used the same raced people. My original plan was to use someone from a different race; however they withdrew from the project. My method of representing teenagers isnt of any offence to the public as the poses and clothing the model have/do are clean and appropriate.
