Rankin • Rankin has made his name in publishing, Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack in 1992. It

provided a platform for innovation for emerging stylists, designers, photographers and writers. The magazine went on to forge a distinctive mark in the arts and publishing spheres, and developed a cult status forming and moulding trends, and bringing some of the brightest lights in fashion to the foreground.

• Tapping into the consciousness of the 90s and 00s with his intimate approach and playful sense of humor, Rankin became known for his portraiture of bands, artists, supermodels and politicians. Having photographed everyone from the Queen of England to the Queen of Pop, Rankin is often seen as a celebrity photographer.

• Rankin s a relevant photographer to my magazine as he has experience in designing the front cover of magazines which are cult and differentiate . My magazine is a cult alternative to mainstream magazines that focuses on the Rock genre and the wide range of bands and artists that fall under that category. Rankin has also worked with many band members and artists some of which are included in my genre.

• Rankin works in a wide range of different styles and setting with a wide range of objects and people which includes celebrities and everyday people to create brilliant photographs.

Rankin's style of photography and the example of pictures by Rankin which I have inserted are what I hope to recreate and reconstruct in my own magazine as they are relevant to Rock.

Peter Lindbergh• Known for his memorable cinematic images, Peter Lindbergh is recognised as

one of the most influential contemporary photographers, due to his unique style that sets him apart.

• Considered a pioneer in photography, he introduced a form of new realism by redefining the standards of beauty with timeless images. His humanist approach and idealisation of women sets him apart from the other photographers as he privileges the soul and the personality making him play an important role in the history of photography.

• Lindberghs style is to capture many emotions in a single shot. He also commonly takes all of his pictures in black and white to add a sad, damped effect which the viewer picks up on.

• Lindbergh is relevant for my magazine as the multiple emotions captured from the person and scene will interest my viewers. Rock also typically features the color black so his black and white photography style fits in perfectly.

Lindberghs black and white photos with humans at the center of the viewers curiosity with a wide variety of different objects and backdrops is what I wish to reconstruct in my magazine.

Ellen Von Unwerth• Ellen von Unwerth is a photographer and director, that

specialses in erotic feminity. She worked in the fashion industry for many years before becoming a photographer who now makes fashion, editorial and advertiseing.

• By 1998, the American Photo Magazine listed her among the Most Important People in Photography. Since this time, she has been on the radar as being among the best female photographers with a natural talent to capture the sensuality of women, which I want to try and capture in my models.

Ellen Von UnwerthUnweths perspicacious images draw the viewer in where the true attitudes are revealed. I want my magazine to have the same effect and the photographs to show the models deep adn dark, rock attitudes!
