We have a soccer team, run by Mr. Lopez, Kids Mat- ter run by Mrs. Jarrett, and the Origami Club run by Ms. Baker. The soccer team practices every lunch in the tennis courts. Kids Matter meets every Monday in room 304. Finally, the Origami Club meets eve- ry Tuesday in room 309. Every Friday, we have activities run by the ASB. They do activities that will make you laugh. You know that we have some clubs start- ing, but one of the club’s is called The Journalism Club. The Journalism Club is run by Ms. Torng. In this club, you write articles that go in our school newsletter. You can snap a picture, or write an arti- cle. If you want, you can also put your ideas to- gether with someone else. The Journalism Club is always looking for new members. We hope you’re convinced enough to join our exciting club! Have a super school year Falcons!!! School Site Council is to give all school members a voice in how state and federal funds are spent.”

You can become a member of the School Site Council by being elect-ed by parents, staff, and students. School Site Council elections are held during the beginning of the year.

The school site council makes de-cisions by meeting each month, discussing, and finally voting for student education. The school site

council oversees all federal and state funds, and makes sure those funds are spent on our struggling students.

Visit Mrs. Martin in rooms 104 and 105 if you would like to learn more about SSC.

By Jessica Bennett

Last month, I sat down with our own Mrs. Martin, School Site Council Categorical Coordinator. Her vision for the new School Site Council students is that they learn all of the interventions, and be able to share their opinions on what helps students learn. She says “The School Site Council is a very important group that makes decisions based on data. It also follows many state and federal guidelines. The purpose of the
