The main difference between digital printing andphotocopying is quality.Our Xerox Docucolour 1250 is the highestquality large volume digital machine available today.It gives outstanding results either copying off the glass, or printing your digital files.We always prefer to print your digital files if you have them, but sometimes the only thingavailable is a hard copy. If you want the very best results, we recommend that youendeavour to supply us with digital files. See specifications below for suitable file formats.

Copying / Digital Printing

SpecificationsWe can access many digital media types, from old fashioned 1.2MB floppy disk, 100MB zip diskto USB jump drives, CD's, DVD's and digital camera disks (provided they are supplied with a cardreading device with USB cable) We can accept files in mac or PC format. The only files we canaccept in raw format are: Adobe Illustrator 8, Adobe Photoshop 5.5, Quark X-Press 4.1, CorelDraw 9, Macromedia Freehand 9 plus any application from the Microsoft Office 2000 Suite.If using applications other than those listed above, suitable export formats are jpeg (always try anduse low compression/ high quality setting for the best results) tiff, bmp or eps. If possible try andsave your file as a pdf (Adobe Acrobat) for failsafe results. When using fonts other than standardwindows fonts, you will need to convert all text to outlines (or graphics) to ensure the document willprint as expected. When supplying PDF, always embed fonts to avoid problems when printing.

File processing / disk access / download fee.This involves the processing of your files on our system and queuing your job onto our RIP (rasterimaging processor) to setup for printing. The file processing fee regardless of the size of your file is$5 first file then $2 each additional file for that order. (ie each time you bring in a disk oremail a job, the first file is $5 plus $2 each for any additional files)

Checklist for Printing

When providing your own files for printing, we can offer you thefollowing advice to get the best results:1) ask us for our artwork setup for print form (pdf adobe acrobat reader required)2) Make sure the page is setup correctly. allow approx 5mm all around the edge formargins. Make sure the page orientation is correct (ie portrait or landscape) Make sure thepage size is set correctly. If printing DL size or multi up on a single page, make sure that youhave allowed for any movement or inaccuracies when trimming.3) ALWAYS check and DOUBLE CHECK your spelling and grammar plus make sure phonenumbers, email addresses etc are correct. We will not give you a discount or takeany responsibility for any errors or ommissions. YOU are responsible forauthorising US to PRINT YOUR JOB.4) Always embed all fonts. We will not load any special fonts just to print your job. Consultyour software manual or check the help file to find out how to ensure no font problems whenexporting the document, or better still supply a pdf with fonts embedded.5) Keep all type, logos and other important information within an 'active image area' whichshould not be within 5mm of the intended edges of the document. This is to avoid logos andtype etc getting accidentally trimmed off the document when guillotining. The same ruleapplies to fold lines on a multi page document.6) Colours - use CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) colours in your documents. In somecases RGB (red, green, blue) files can corrupt in the RIP and end up printing greyscale. Ifpossible supply a proof of how you expect your document to look. Use your home/ officeprinter just to check you are happy with the layout and colours and we can use this to makesure the file has printed correctly on our Xerox. Note: some colours print differently in CMYKmode than they look on screen. Particularly very bright blues, bright greens, bright orangesand bright pinks. This is not a problem with printing, it is merely a limitation of the CMYKprocess, and you must adjust your image files and all colours to CMYK so you get anaccurate idea of how your job will look when printed.7) Keep your file sizes to a minimum. You only need an image resolution of 300dpi at100% size. Resize your images accordingly and re-import them to get the best results.8) Remember to supply all linked files and images placed into the master document. It is bestto have a folder with the master file and all embedded graphics and images within thefolder. This is not required if you have supplied a pdf.9) Finally, please remember to keep the original file on your hard drive or keep a backup

copy. Please be advised we do not keep or archive your job once printing iscompleted.
