Like ‘CLASH’ it is quite alternative and consists of popular artists, shined in a different light. The filters and style I will use with my magazine will show this. I want the magazine to appear as interesting and different as possible and I believe I can do this through the way I edit my photos and the use of my font and stories. Photographer: I intend to take the photos myself using a professional camera to get the best quality I can apply to my magazine. I aim to use low camera angles to display dominance to the person being photographed and use medium shots to fit most of their body in. I fell this is the appropriate conventions as this is the same as what ‘CLASH’ has used and looks amazing in the finished product. My lighting will be high key so that the image is easy to see and work with. I intend to soften the image when editing and apply a vintage filter to make the photo fit with the magazine. Project Description:

Majestic’ is a magazine which is not the everyday stereotypical magazine. Like ‘CLASH’ it is quite alternative and consists of popular artists, shined in a different light. The filters and style I will use with my magazine will show this.I want the magazine to appear as interesting and different as possible and I believe I can do this through the way I edit my photos and the use of my font and stories.

Photographer:

I intend to take the photos myself using a professional camera to get the best quality I can apply to my magazine.

Reference images and ideas:

I think that the three examples of people above would be perfect for my front cover as they are all music icons and have a simplistic approach to the way they have been photographed.

Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot PlanAlso they are all close ups and are appearing the exact way I want my model to appear. If I were to copy any style it would be the one on the left. This is how I want my front cover to look like.

Casting:

I feel like these people have and alternative look about them and it seems that they have a mysterious look which is exactly what I want to interpret with my photos. I will try to do these using facial expressions however I need to remember that my magazine will be different to these. I will try and make my model look into the camera directly but having his head down at the same time. My photos will be either close ups or medium shots to create a personal relationship between the model and the reader.

Model requirements:

The person I want to star in my magazine needs to have blonde hair with pale skin tone. Tall and skinny to fit the same type of person on the cover of CLASH magazine. There aren’t many black people in alternative music die to the stereotype usually being rap music. Also against the photo shoot I have at set up, James (white male) will be easy to Photoshop onto my front cover.

Wardrobe and Look:James will be wearing a blue cardigan with a white t-shirt, minimum jewelry and blue jeans. This is all that will be shown within the photographs because all of them will either be close ups or medium shots.

Hair and Make up:

James will do his own hair the way he normally does it; he won’t have to wear makeup unless he seriously wants too. His normal everyday style is already perfect for the role. However I will have products on site if needs be such as hair spray and concealer (make-up).

Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot PlanWhere:

I will be taking the photos in two different locations; one being outside my house as I have a wall of brickwork perfect for the shot I want to take. The dark background compliments James’ pale skin well and the area is in full light providing perfect lighting. The second location will be on Walton Heath Golf Course as they have perfect scenery for the background for my close-ups. The land goes on for ages and the grass is kept short so it will be really pleasant area.

When:

I aim to take my photos while it is still autumn because the scenery will be frosty and the lighting will be bright as the sun will be shining in front of the clouds, providing perfect lighting. I need to make sure that it will still be autumn because I don’t want the area to be muddy. Lighting is really important to me because it helps create a better picture because the camera is better at focusing in lighter conditions, also it will help when covering blemishes and adding filters. I will get my photos taken November 22nd as this will allow me enough time to edit them before I have to include them within my work.

I will be using James for my coursework because he is quite photogenic and has a good skin completion which means that it won’t require much editing in terms of blemishes. He is good in near to all light conditions and has a good style in terms of cloths and hair which will suit the perfect role of my magazine feature. As James is also my good friend it will also be easy to get hold of him in terms of taking photos and writing the interview as I see him often.
