SAFWCO as a partner organization entered into an agreement with Pakistan Poverty alleviation Fund (PPAF) in June 2012 to address the needs of rehabilitation, reconstruction and preparedness of the flood affected communities in seven UCs of District Sanghar. Under the 3R+P program a disaster preparedness and management component was included as integral part of the program with an objective to help people for better preparation to cope with various disasters in pre- planned manner and in case disaster set in get actively involved in relief, recovery and rehabilitation efforts.The disaster preparedness and management component was designed in way to enhance the capacities and knowledge base of the communities through community based disaster risk reduction trainings, formation of Union council disaster management committees and emergency response teams. The training will be equipped with training aids for practical demonstration and simulation along with provision of stock piles of emergency tools and equipment at UC level. In each targeted Union Council four CBDRM training events are planned in which total of 120 community members will be trained.
