The phone hacking scandal has been happening by the writers of the News of the world. However, many other British tabloid newspapers are also a part of this big scandal. The News of the World hacked many famous peoples phones such as; Ulrika Johnson, Jade Goody, Noel Edmonds, Tina O’Brien, Frank Bruno and Jessie Wallace. This was done by “screwing” or tapping their phones. The News of the World used many different methods to interfere into individuals’ life which was illegal for the News of the World to do. Phone hacking has many different methods to hack individuals phones they can enter a pin, screw the phone. When they hack into someone’s phone it allows them to listen to the individual’s voice messages. 2) Why does the Newspaper industry use Phone Hacking? The main reason why many tabloids and news papers use phone hacking is to find out stories about famous people or innocent people. They hack into people’s phones so they can find out stories that other news papers will not be able to get hold of. The News of the World would hack people’s voice mail messages so they can sell the stories they have heard in the voicemail. The whole reason for them to hack into people’s phones is because they want to know everything about an individual’s private life. 3) What has the impact been on the Newspaper industry, especially the News of the World? The phone hacking had a huge impact on the news of the world because what they was doing was illegal. They were taking away human rights of privacy. This directed to the News of the World being shut down.. The former editor Andy Coulson and former News of the World editor Clive Goodman were arrested on 8 July 2011 for phone hacking in 2007. Also the former executive editor Neil Wallis was arrested on 15 July 2011 and former editor Rebekah Brooks was the tenth person held in custody, on 17 July 2011. 4) Who are the main victims of phone hackers and how has it affected them? There were many victims from innocent people like Milly Dowler to famous people like David Beckham, Jade Goody, Tina O'Brien and many more. This affected the famous individuals private lives because stuff that was private to them the news papers found out about and published it in there news papers. Milly Dowler was a young British female who's phone got hacked and leaded to her going missing she was then later found dead. 6) Who are Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson? How are they involved in the phone hacking scandal? Rebekah Brooks is a British journalist and former newspaper editor. She was chief executive of News international and was the editor of News of the World. Rebekah Brooks was a part of the News International phone hacking scandal, having been the editor of the News of the World when illegal phone hacking was supposedly been happening by the newspaper. She was arrested then arrested on the 17th July 2011 on suspicion of conspiring. Andy Coulson is an English journalist and political strategist. Andy was the editor of the News of the World until following conviction of one of the newspaper’s in relation to the illegal phone hacking. Andy Coulson was a part of the phone hacking scandal and was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Service on the 8th July 2011 in connection with the corruption and phone hacking.

7) What has the government done to address phone hacking?

The government and the previous Labour administration had been accused of being slow to react to the scandal. The prime minister announced that the press complaints commission should be scrapped. They are now conducting a two part inquiry to look at the culture practices and ethics of the UK media. It will later look at the extent of unlawful behaviour within the newspaper groups and the police's original phone-hacking investigation.
