Deputy Principal’s News Parent Survey https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/ewps Our parent surveys are live and open. Please click on the above survey link and have your say about the school. The survey takes 10-20 minutes to complete. Only one survey is needed from each family but you may do one from both parents if need be. We value these surveys greatly as it pro-vides us with a strong parent perception of the school and allows us to in-clude parent needs within our plans and processes. Every survey complet-ed will be helping the school. ‘Deadly Kid’ Stephanie Our wonderful Stephanie C was the very proud recipient of a Deadly Kids Award last week. The Deadly Kids Award was developed to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Aboriginal students across metropolitan south schools. We are very proud of Stephanie’s achievements. Years 3-6 Friday Sport News We have introduced some new options for Term 4 Years 3-6 school sport and it is the first time these have been on offer at the school. Due to the complexity of school sport organisation and working with outside providers, the expressions of interest for sport on offer were sent out at different times. I understand the issues that come with this eg students have signed up for one sport and now wish to participate in another sport. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. Moving forward, I will endeavour to ensure expressions of interest for optional school sport in the future are sent out at the same time. The general response from the school community regarding submitting expressions of interest through a google link has been positive. Due to the overwhelming response to the sports on offer, I hope to offer them again next year. Gaynor Long School Sport Coordinator

Engadine West PS sponsors an African girl named Aicha. We have done this for a few years now and our sponsor-ship supports her education and basic living needs. We will be holding a gold coin fundraiser for Aicha on Thursday 27 September 2018 (Week 10) to continue this support. The theme will be to come dressed as something from one of the letters of Aicha's name. For example: A - astronaut, animal C - child, cowboy, chef H - Harry Potter, Hulk You can be as creative as you like but please remember students are to wear appropriate footwear to school. Thankyou again to our school community for demonstrating to our students how important it is to help others. Karen Weppler SRC Coordinator

HELP NEEDED

Can you help in the canteen?

HELP…...the canteen is in need of extra volunteers! Can you help once a term, two-to-three hours a morning (help preparing our fresh fruit and vegie items) or one-to-two hours of an afternoon (help with pack up and cleaning)?

Please drop in and see Leanne to discuss volunteering options. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Frozen watermelon and pineapple slices 50c for sale over the counter at recess and lunch (not lunch orders)

Place orders through Flexischools before 5.00pm Tuesdays for delivery to classrooms on Wednesdays.

Leave orders at the school office or call into the uniform shop on open days.

Find order forms on the school website under the ‘Notes and Forms’ tab or at the school office.

Happy Fruit & Veg’tember!

The theme for this year’s NSW Health’s Fruit & Veg month is 'Happy Fruit and Veg'tember!' and we are encouraging students to visit the canteen and “get happy” with fruit and vegetables. We will be offering some delicious daily specials to encourage healthy choices and we are bringing back our very popular Slinky Apple week starting Monday 10 September 1.30-2.15pm. Check out our Engadine West PS canteen Facebook page for more information.

Remember the ‘Eat Fresh and Win’ campaign is still running until Friday 21 September. Each time students make a healthy selection from the canteen, they are rewarded with a sticker to add to their entry form. Once two stickers are collected, return the form to the canteen for a prize! Come along to hear about what we have planned and contribute your own ideas. The P&C general meeting will start at 7.30pm as normal.

We would love to see you for one or both meetings and remember that children are welcome, we have the movie room in the care centre to keep them happy! Hope to see you there.

P&C payments may be made through Flexischools.

Download the app to pay for canteen and uniforms orders, school discos and other P&C fundraising initiatives.

NOTE: Please do not pay for P&C initiatives through the school website.

The school website ‘Make a Payment’ tab is to be used for school payments only (eg school fees, excursions/incursions etc).

• P&C DISCO • Thank you to all the Engadine West PS families who brought their children along to our disco last night. It was fabulous fun for the students as always! We appreciate the support of the teachers and admin staff for making it all happen, giving up those valuable after school hours for the kids. Huge thankyou to those who purchased tickets on FlexiSchools, this makes organising P&C events so much easier. Chantal M ran another great barbeque with the glow products and lollies being a big hit. Debra F and Peta S took the lead in organising this disco, thanks so much for your hard work. It sure is worth it to see the kids have so much fun. We all look forward to the next one.
