WILLIAMS LAKE SALE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st, 2017 Well another incredible sale here in Williams Lake as 600 head of cattle hit the sale ring. It was wild and every buyer chair was filled. Brett Grant from Quesnel built the fire under this incredi-ble sale with 488 lb S/C at 226.00 and 530 lb S/C at 226.00. His 367 lb H/C today saw 236.00. Mike and Karen Hawkridge from Baker Creek saw their 415 lb Black Angus S/C top 247.00, their fancy 403 lb H/C saw 228.00 and their 465 lb S/C marked 225.00. Bill and Maureen Hadder from 100 Mile House with 543 lb Black Angus S/C racing to 213.00, their 489 lb Black Angus H/C today saw 206.00, and their 618 lb S/C saw 207.00. Paul Stafford today rang the bell with 380 lb Black Angus X S/C hitting 264.00. Allen Lee from Quesnel with top calves, their 509 lb Black Angus S/C raced to 221.00 and their 386 lb H/C saw 225.00. The CK Ranch from Quesnel with a top load of calves today. Their 590 lb Black Angus X S/C market 210.00, their 639 lb S/C hit 206.50 and their 600 lb H/C today shone at 188.50. High Bar Ranch’s 422 lb S/C reached 249.00. Brock and Liz Twan saw their 767 lb STRS hit 205.50. Gang Ranch had a load of 793 lb open HFRS top 179.25, their 724 lb HFRS reached 185.75. Larry and Bev Ramstad’s 865 lb blk STRS rolled to 188.50. Tim and Susan Rolph saw their 743 lb blk STRS hit 205.00. Guichon Creek Ranches’s 809 lb open HFRS hit 178.50 and their 915 lb HFRS reached 175.00. Dianna Donnely’s 823 lb blk STRS brought 193.75. 14 Mile Ranch’s 826 lb Hereford HFRS sold to 175.50. Darcy Finch today from Hixon had 676 lb STRS race to 200.00. Don Perlitz from Quesnel fueled the ring with 21 STRS, 865 lb and all Angus X. They traded to 190.00. 19 of their 801 lb STRS set a pace at 197.00. The Wineglass Catttle Co. had 1224 lb butcher cows top our overall market at 88.00. Well a huge thank you to all our bidders, buyers and contributors. Next week starts our Wednesday calf sales. 1400 hd for the Wednesday’s Special Calf sale and then 500 head for the regular Thursday sale so far.

VANDERHOOF SALE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd, 2017 Another 300 calves this week and there seems to be some real stability for the calves, like Andy Reimer’s (Vanderhoof) Red Angus / Hereford X, his 583 lb S/C set the pace at 213.75, 513 lb S/C up to 216.50, 567 lb H/C landed at 192.00. Andy’s 1654 lb red cows brought 84.75. Jo Schwegler (Smithers) had 604 lb S/C mark 210.00, 574 lb H/C at 190.00. George Hofer (Vanderhoof) saw his 453 lb S/C soar to 230.00, 399 lb S/C all the way up to 240.00. Nick Hiatt (Endako) was in with a great pen of 529 lb S/C demanding 216.00, 460 lb S/C up to 229.00. His 469 lb H/C hit 218.00, 377 lb H/C carried on to 235.00. Bill Harness had 516 lb S/C make 210.00, 408 lb H/C at 221.00. James Allan (PG) saw his pen of 453 lb H/C reach 220.00. Yearling receipts starting to wind down with just over 100 hd in this sale. Jack-son Bro’s (Telkwa) had 771 lb YS hit 208.00, 693 lb YH at 190.75, 816 lb YH settled at 184.75. Markay Farms (Vanderhoof) had a set of 780 lb YH bring 179.00. Gary Debruin (Quesnel) had 878 lb YS notch 186.75, 927 lb YS at 168.00. Garry’s 970 lb YH demanded 164.00, his 750 lb YH climbed to 188.00. Carla Simrose (Vanderhoof) saw her 853 lb YS sell at 191.00 and her 754 lb YS at 206.00. Some recovery in the butcher trade as we saw Here-ford cows from Dalaine Ranch (Telkwa) tip the scales at 1638 lb and trade for 84.00. John Plimmer (PG) had 1471 lb cows hit 82.75. Tom Moon (Vanderhoof) with some younger 1210 lb Red Angus cows reaching 84.50. We saw a dozen bulls average 92.00 with the top of that market coming from Muir Stock Farms (Vanderhoof) as their 2285 lb Charolais bull stopped the bit at 102.00. We enjoyed the beautiful fall weather and I would like to thank our produc-ers for supporting their co-op. Thank you to the crew for another top effort and of course we tip our hat to the great cattle buyers we have here in BC. Next Friday we’re expecting 1000 calves as we look forward to another high energy fall run for 2017.

Total receipts today was just un-der 600 head. Windrow Farms from Kelowna put the fire to our yearling trade. Their 874 lb Blk Angus STRS today saw 187.50. Their 834 lb HFRS today raced to 179.50. The Scuitto Creek Ranch`s 930 lb STRS reached 184.50. Jim Pedrotti had 725 lb Blk Angus STRS top 199.50. His 747 lb STRS today saw 186.25. Bob and Suzanne Brash with a top pen of 600 lb Blk Angus S/C today, they set a pace at 204.00. Their pen of 534 lb S/C powered to 214.50 and their H/C at 502 lb powered to 194.50. Mel and Anne Campbell’s 625 lb H/C sold to 190.00 and their 445 lb H/C hit 215.50. Barry Gerlib’s 615 lb red S/C sold to 204.50. Lacey Bromke’s 513 lb blk X H/C reached 198.50. Reg Schweb’s 851 lb STRS hit 192.50 and his 708 lb STRS raced to 206.25. W.A. Janssens from Cache Creek, 655 lb Red/Sim S/C at 206.00. Gord and Chris Hudson set a pace today with heavy 710 lb Sim-Red Angus X S/C topping 204.00. Their 665 lb S/C hit 207.50. Merv Smith in with a top pen of calves, his 538 lb Blk Angus S/C hit 214.00 and his 447 lb S/C hit 234.50. Chuck and Sharon Melanson from Armstrong saw their 607 lb S/C top 206.00. Ken MacDougall was here with a choice load of calves. A ring full of their 661 lb S/C saw 206.25. Their heavy 756 lb S/C reached 205.25 or 1551.69 each. Aldergrove Limousin’s 878 lb STRS sold to 189.50, their 673 lb STRS rolled to 205.75 and their 650 lb H/C reached 191.00. Joe Wadlegger saw his 1002 lb Pinzgauer STRS hit 168.50. Fennell Ranches today with another load of great calves. 10 head of their 468 lb S/C hit 231.00 and their 533 lb S/C hit 213.50. Well it was one tremen-dous day. Get ready, next week is bringing 1200 powerful calves. This will be a showcase for sure, come and have a look if you need calves.

The cattle industry in British Columbia is supporting the increase in check-off to $5.00 per head beginning September 1, 2017. This $5 represents both pro-vincial and national check-off amounts. The Canadian Beef Cattle Check-off is increasing to $2.50 per head and at the same time, the provincial check-off is increasing to $2.50. These increases were made at the request of the provin-cial and national cattle associations.
