Drama Club
The Attleboro High School
Drama Club proudly presents
the comedy THE MEDICINE
MAN by David Grote. Inspired
by Molière's The Doctor In
Spite of Himself, the play tells
the story of Old West snake-oil
salesman con man Samuel P.
Sagamore (senior Colby
Goyette). He wanders into a
hotel run by his wife Aggie
(senior Jalyn King) and teenage
daughter Louise (freshman
Alyssa Alviti), whom he abandoned ten years earlier.
Naturally, Aggie isn't pleased to see him. Meanwhile,
the hotel is visited by the wealthy Señor Vega (senior
Collin Vermilyea) and his wife Clara (junior Riley
Nedder) searching for a doctor to cure their daughter
Isabel (sophomore Lily Schuerger), who has lost her
ability to talk. Well, con men are always out to make a
buck, so Sagamore impersonates a doctor. Can he cure
Isabel? Or will he be turned in to the Sheriff (junior
Matt Scott)? Hijinks ensue when you add in the Sher-
iff's flirtatious sister (junior Abby McNeil), a pair of
bumbling cow hands (senior Josh Martineau, sopho-
more Jack Vermilyea), a likeable cowboy (sophomore
Patrick Morris), and Isabel's strict chaperone (junior
Nathalia Montijo). Stage management by senior Teresa
Turner and junior Samantha Murphy, and lighting oper-
ation by junior Natalie Johnson.
Performances are Friday and Saturday, December 1
and 2 at 7:00 PM in the Robert H. Bray Auditori-
um. Tickets will be available at the door for $10 for
adults and $7 for students and senior citizens. Come
see this funny, family-friendly farce! For more infor-
mation, contact Drama Club Advisor Pete Tarsi at ptar-

News from the Guidance Department
After School Help Sessions
The Guidance Department is sponsoring after school
help sessions each Monday in the Guidance Center,
Room 236. Students needing help with college applica-
tions, resume writing, or interview skills are encour-
aged to come by for extra help.
AP Exams
It is that time of year to begin thinking about AP ex-
ams! Even though AP exams are taken in May, much
of our preparatory work begins now! Attleboro High
School subsidizes a portion of the AP exams. Students
who are enrolled in AP courses will be given their indi-
vidual payment forms in their AP courses. Students are
asked to pay for their exams beginning the week of
January 8-12 in the Guidance Center, room 236 during
all lunches. Students should see Ms. Little or Mr. Par-
rillo on January 2 if they need any assistance.
The Opportunities Fair
The School to Career Office, the Guidance Department
and the Office of Special Education will be hosting the
fourth annual Opportunities Fair on February 28 from
8:00-10:00. Area businesses, colleges, military
branches and community support services will be rep-
resented to assist students with their post-secondary
endeavors. Seniors will be invited to this event based
on their responses to a survey in advisory. Any student
who has questions about the event should see Amanda
Louro in the School to Career Office or Julie Little in
the Guidance Department.
ASVAB Exam
Students interested in joining the armed forces need to
take the ASVAB exam. Attleboro High School will
once again be a host site. The first opportunity to take
the exam will be on Friday, December 8. Interested
students should contact their Guidance Counselor or
Ms. Little as soon as possible as seating
is limited. There is no fee for this exam.

TDA - Driver Education at Attleboro High School
Join the over 1000 families that chose Teachers Driv-
ing Academy as the driver education program for their
child. Quality classroom instruction and the conven-
ience of on-site classes make TDA the perfect choice!
Students aged 15 years, nine months and older are eli-
gible to take driver education classes. In order to earn
a driver’s education certificate, the state of Massachu-
setts requires students to take 30 hours of classroom
instruction, 12 hours of driving instruction, and six
hours of driving observation; parents must also take a
two hour parent class. Both the student and parent
classroom instruction will take place at the high
school; the driving instruction will take place off site.
See the schedule below for the remaining session
dates. The cost of the classroom instruction is
$80.00. WINTER BREAK 2017, SESSION #3

Ski and Snowboarding Club December Trip
The Ski and Snowboarding Club was formed last year to
promote a healthy winter physical activity for those stu-
dents with experience, and as an opportunity for beginners
to try the sport. We will make our first trip to Wachusett
Ski Area for after-school skiing on December 14. The bus
will depart at 2:15 PM from the Superintendent’s En-
trance, and will return approximately 11:30 PM.
We hope to take one trip per month from December
through March, generally on Thursday afternoons right
after school. Each student is responsible for his or her lift
ticket ($35) and any equipment rental costs. Students
should also bring some money with which to buy supper
at the mountain. We should return no later than midnight
for pickup at the High School. Transportation is partially
subsidized by the club, but the student will need to con-
tribute $15 to the cost of the bus.
You must complete the waiver form found in Group Re-
sources on the Club page, have it signed by a parent or
guardian, and return it with all money due to Mr. Weidner
in Room 204A by Dec 4. The first 40 students to sign up
and pay will be permitted to go on the trip. Wachusett has
given us a very reasonable rate of $35 for the entire moun-
tain, and $20 for rental of skis/board, boots and helmet.
They also offer lessons in an all-inclusive beginner’s
package for $60 – a great deal for a first-timer.
Students can become members by signing up on the Club
page in Aspen. The page is located in the Public users sec-
tion of the Page Directory, and can be added to each stu-
dent’s homepage by clicking “Add” underneath the icon.
Leo Club
This month, the Leo Club held its an-
nual food drive. We collected food
each morning from November 1 to No-
vember 17. We are grateful for all the
donations that we received. Some of
the food was used to create 10 Thanks-
giving baskets, that will go out to families in Attleboro,
while the remaining food items will go to a local food
pantry.
On November 11, we sent two teams out for our annual
community leaf raking. Leos also volunteered at the St.
Teresa’s Church Thanksgiving Dinner on November
15, where they served food and drinks. At our meeting
on November 6, we made centerpieces for the dinner.
Some also volunteered at the Lions Craft Fair on No-
vember 19, where they helped the crafters clean up.
Throughout the month, we made plenty of Veterans
Day cards.
Lastly, we had a table at Blue Pride Night, which was
extremely successful. We met many interested middle
school students that we hope join Leo Club when they
come to AHS.
