Term 3 Week 7
BUNMARRA BYALA
Here, there, everywhere Blue Tongue Lizard Talk
Dear Families,
Another really busy week at school, as most are! We had teachers and students off to The Joan Sutherland
Centre for Dance performances on Tuesday and Wednesday and on Friday we have students and teachers off
to an 8.00am start for District Athletics at the Blacktown International Sports Park. The weekend will bring a
well-earned rest for those fast, rhythmic and coordinated feet!
Staff and students, and I am sure parents, had the most wonderful week with dance. The children were
amazing and excited (excitable! ), they were in fact, a joy to be with. Children never cease to amaze me. They
rise to the task, always, and everything goes without a hitch despite all those niggly little and sometimes big
nerves. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and the mums and dads, and grandparents
who supported the initiative which enriches school life, gives our children opportunities to shine in different
ways and most of all provides time for fun. Bless You!
We wish all the students off to District Athletics the very best. Again, thank you to all involved. It takes a great
deal of effort from students, teachers and parents to get ready for these events; from training and effort to
organisation (especially with a 6.30am bus trip!!)
School Executive
The school executive met with Rod Cheal from Student Services last Tuesday afternoon to discuss the
collaborative K – 6 strategies we will implement to deliver teacher training around the use of the new learning
progressions for writing. We will work with the English Syllabus from Early Stage 1 to Stage 4, cross referencing
and drawing links to our assessment structures and the progressions Early Stage 1 to Stage 4. From here the
school executive will work with Rod and Demet who is a member of the Department of Education Literacy unit
where we will take the initiative to a full school professional meeting on the 24th September, ready to begin
work Term 4.
Hope to see you out and about at the Garden Festival this weekend. My mum and my aunts were fantastic
gardeners. It didn’t matter what they put into their pots or gardens; grafted plants, cuttings, seedlings, they all
grew beautifully. Alas, it appears, it is not a genetic trait! Maybe this weekend I can learn some tricks to
improve.
Yours in learning,
E.Jamieson
