NEW PARKING ARRANGEMENT!Awesome job morning drivers! You have made sure that our new parking arrangement has flowed smoothly! Thank you for understanding the need for increased visibility and safety for your children, parents, staff, and visitors.
Parents, please, please, please keep your voices low when talking with other adults in the front lobby of bldg. A. Classes start at 8:00am and the noise level in our lobby is disruptive to our teachers and students. Please make coffee and use our kitchen for matters that need discussing. Thank you for being considerate of our students and staff.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Most Sincerely,
JSchmidt

New Healthy Futures Activity Logs Begin SundayKeep up the healthy activity! This Sunday, September 30th, marks the beginning of a new four week log. All students should have brought home the latest Healthy Futures Activity Logs earlier this week. Logs from the prior four weeks are due on Tuesday, October 2nd.
Students should submit them as soon as possible.. (I have to submit a record of all logs submitted to Healthy Futures by Tuesday night.) I would love to have parent volunteers sort through the logs, ensure they contain all necessary information, and complete a classroom log
recording which students have submitted logs. A parent for each classroom would be ideal. Please let me know if you would be willing to help me with this. If you would like
to download an activity log, please visit my website at http://www.matsuk12.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID=2987.
Mileage Club... is going strong!
Many Fronteras students have been working their hearts and legs during
recess by participating in Mileage Club. To participate, students run or walk a 1/4 mile loop around the playground. Fourth and fifth grade volunteers
encourage runners and punch a hole on student mileage cards for each lap
completed. Parents and family members, help encourage healthy habits by joining the fun. The K1 students
participate on Wednesdays and Fridays, and the 2-5 classes make the loop on Tuesdays and Thursdays during recess.
Congratulations, Mileage Club Runners!
Rosie Whittington-Evans, Abby Rogness, Kaija Backus,
Matías Ramírez, Kahlid Hodge, and Ryder Clark have already traveled over five miles during mileage club. Way to go!
PE ProgressStudents in grades 2-5 will be recording their
personal best next week in PE class. (We postponed Personal Best Day for a week due to my illness.)
We'll also be beginning a basketball unit. K1 students will be working on dribbling, catching, and throwing. Please check iParent to track your child's progress. Scores are based on the Guidelines for
Success. (You may find these on my website.)
Sharing Time and TalentPlease let me know (email's the best way to
communicate with me) if you would be willing to share your time and talent in any of the following ways:
Tracking Healthy Futures Activity Log completion for each classroom (Ideally, we would have one volunteer in charge of each classroom.)Clearing a snowshoeing path in preparation for this winterGiving a ball-handling demonstration to our PE classesWorking with Mileage Club helpers during recessHelping to coordinate Jump Rope for Heart (date to be announced)Creating a large cancer awareness poster to hang in our gym (date to be announced)Hanging a white board in the gymRemoving the trays from the existing white boardsCutting the old bulletin board in half and hanging it in the gymPutting plexiglass covers on the bulletin boardsHelping to create mileage feet and certificates for Mileage Club

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Thorton for disassembling the ping pong tables that had previously made the conex inaccessible; to Mr. Cook and Mr. Shelton for making room for the tables and archery targets in
the conex; and to Mr. and Mrs. Robinson for taking down the bulletin board. It's wonderful to have more space for students in the gym and supplies in the conex. What an incredible difference! Thank you to the Bang family for creating the eye-catching visuals that illustrate the Guidelines for Success. Thank you all.
Mrs. Kappel & Mrs. Ward are so proud of their runners! They showed great school pride &
sportsmanship! Results can be seen at:
