Speaker Bios

Nic Loiacono (Illinois 1974) | Archon PresidentNic was elected Archon President by the 172nd Ekklesia in August 2020. He was first elected to the Archonate as Treasurer at the 168th Ekklesia in 2016, and he served for four years in that role. As an undergraduate, Nic served as President and Treasurer of the Chi Iota Chapter. As a graduate brother, he served on the house corporation of his chapter at Illinois as well as the chapter at University of Kentucky. Additionally, he has spent time as a member of the Board of Chapter Advisors in the early days of the California State Northridge Chapter and was part of the group of brothers who led the capital campaign, which resulted in the acquisition in 2015 of a permanent house for the Illinois Chapter. Prior to his election to the Archonate, Nic served the International Fraternity on its Financial Advisory Board.

Dave Schreck (Kansas State 1969) | Keynote SpeakerDave graduated from Kansas State University (KSU) in 1969 with a BS in bakery science and management. He is one of the 24 founders of the Chi Deuteron Chapter and was initiated into the Fraternity on September 28, 1968. His prior volunteer roles with the Fraternity include Archon Councilor, Purple Legionnaire for KSU and Georgia Tech University, President of the Atlanta Graduate Chapter and House Corporation President for KSU. Dave retired in 2014 after a successful career in restaurant, bakery and catering operations man-agement. He spent the final 16 years of his career with Starbucks Coffee Company, serving as Regional Food & Beverage Manager and District Manager, to name a few. He is married to his college sweetheart of 50 years, and he has two daughters and six grandchildren.

Steve Bocher (Denver 1983) | Chairman, 1848 Housing CommitteeSteve currently serves as Chairman of 1848 Properties Inc. and the 1848 Housing Committee. His prior volunteer roles include President of the Denver Graduate Chapter, member and President of the Board of Chapter Advisors at Colorado School of Mines, and member of the House Corporation at the University of Denver and Colorado School of Mines. Professionally, Steve is associated with marketing and holds the title of President and Owner of Catch Fire Marketing LLC located in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Jim Lee (Minnesota 1978) | 1848 Housing CommitteeJim currently serves as Secretary of 1848 Properties Inc. and as a member of the 1848 Housing Committee. Jim previously served on the Financial Advisory Board and as a Trustee of the Fraternity. Professionally, Jim works in real estate and holds the title of Senior Principal for Kensington Reality Advisors located in Chicago, Illinois.

John Ziza (Ohio 1978) | 1848 Housing CommitteeJohn currently serves as a Director for 1848 Properties Inc. and as a member of the 1848 Housing Committee. John has previous experience on house corporations, serving as a board member and President of the Alpha Omega House Corporation. Professionally, John works in IT consulting as the President and CEO of ADgility Solutions Inc., located in Cincinnati, Ohio. 4

Scott Sikes, MBA, CFRE, FAHP, CFP | Principal & Partner, Columns FundraisingScott has over 30 years of experience with nonprofit organizations. He has broad expe-rience in frontline fundraising & leadership, including positions as Elected Chairman of the Council of Vice Presidents of External Affairs for the University System of Georgia; Vice President for Development & Community Relations at Shepherd Center; Vice President for University Advancement at Valdosta State University; Interim Executive Director of Development at University of Georgia (UGA). Scott was a founding member of the Georgia Planned Giving Council in 1988, and he was co-founder & President of the Athens Estate Planning Network. Scott earned his BA in political science and Russian, with a certifi-cate in global studies from UGA and a Russian Language Certificate from St. Petersburg State University (Russia). He also received an MBA from Kennesaw State University. He is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (FAHP) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).

Mark Krill (Florida 1986) | 1848 Housing CommitteeMark currently serves as a member of the 1848 Housing Committee. He has volun-teered in many roles for the Fraternity, having formerly served as Section Chief, Purple Legionnaire, Board of Chapter Advisors member and House Corporation President. He also currently serves as a House Corporation member for his chapter and as President of the Fort Lauderdale (Southern Coast) Graduate Chapter. Outside of the Fraternity, Mark is the Executive VP of FirstBank Florida located in Plantation, Florida.

Mark Wilkison (Vermont 1983) | Principal & Partner, Columns FundraisingMark has extensive expertise in major gifts, planned giving, feasibility studies, execution of capital campaigns, strategic planning and visioning for organizations, and execu-tive search. He has more than 35 years of consulting and fundraising experience, which includes serving as Vice President - Development for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Chief Development Officer at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Chief Development Officer for the International Life Sciences Institute, and as Executive Vice President of Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation. Mark has also served as President of the Atlanta Peachtree Rotary Club, and he has been involved with Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Georgia Education Advancement Council, Georgia Association of Development Professionals, and the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning. Additionally, he served the Fraternity as a Field Secretary and Director of Graduate Services. Mark and his wife, Shari, have two children.

Wesley Wicker, Ed.D. | Principal & Partner, Columns FundraisingWes has more than 30 years of experience in higher education and development. He began his career in admissions and alumni affairs at Georgia Southwestern State University. He also worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia (UGA) and as Vice President of Advancement at Kennesaw State University. Wes also served as Vice President of Major Gifts for United Way of Metro Atlanta. Wes earned a BA in history from the University of Alabama, an MEd from Georgia Southwestern State University and an EdD from UGA. He also previously served as the Senior Director and President of Theta Chi’s National Fraternity Foundation. Currently, Wes serves as Treasurer of the Norwich Housing Corporation. Additionally, he is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor bestowed on an alumnus of Theta Chi. Wes and his wife, Kay, have two adult daughters.

David Carico | Principal & Partner, Columns FundraisingDavid started his fundraising career in the early 1990s, serving as Executive Director of the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation. After moving back to Atlanta, he settled at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was Regional Director of Development. In this position, he solicited significant philanthropic support from Georgia Tech alumni. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Business Development at Omega Financial, Inc. David has a BA in English and history from Emory University, and he earned his CFRE designation in 1997. David has been active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, serving as President and State Director, and as Chairman of the Junior Chamber International Conference of the Americas. He served as a Board member and Treasurer of the North American Interfraternal Foundation and a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving.

Shana Smith | Director of Strategic Partnerships, Upper Crust Food ServiceShana joined Upper Crust Food Service as the Director of Strategic Partnerships in fall 2017. She worked in the food industry as a home economist and food rep for over 12 years, and she has over 20 years of property management experience. Shana is a member of Alpha Phi International Fraternity, having served locally and regionally in various vol-unteer roles and on Alpha Phi’s International Executive Board. She currently serves on the Alpha Phi Foundation Board of Directors and as the house corporation board president for the Beta Mu Chapter at the University of Alabama. Under her leadership, the University of Alabama Chapter completed construction of a $12.1 million chapter house in 2014. Shana graduated from the University of Montana with a BA in education. She is a certified Home Economist, Residential Management Professional and Master Property Manager through the National Association of Residential Property Managers.

Steve Ratterman | Founding Partner, CSL ManagementSteve founded CSL Management after serving four years as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Fifth Point Properties, a wholly owned subsidiary of his fraternity, Sigma Nu. Steve has over 15 years of experience in property management, most of which exclusively focuses on fraternity and sorority housing. He has extensive experience in risk management, insurance placement and real estate acquisitions. As Chief Executive Officer for CSL Management, Steve is responsible for the strategic development and client acquisition. He also consults in the areas of real estate acquisition, project management and operational excellence. Steve graduated from Indiana University with a BS in business administration. He was a recipient of Sigma Nu’s Herman B. Wells Leadership Award, and he currently serves on the Sigma Nu High Council as Vice-Regent. Additionally, Steve serves on the Fraternity & Sorority Political Action Committee Board and on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of FRMT, Ltd.

Woody Ratterman | Managing Partner, CSL ManagementWoody joined CSL Management in 2010 as a partner, and he currently serves as the Managing Partner. He has more than 25 years of experience in operations consulting, risk management, capital raising and mergers and acquisitions. As Managing Partner, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company and is a consultant for the firm in the areas of project management, finance, strategic issues and operational excellence. Woody earned his BS degree in business administration, with an emphasis in finance and insurance, from Middle Tennessee State University. He also earned his MBA from Belmont 4

University. Woody is currently a general fraternity officer for his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, and he assists with chapter operations in Tennessee.

Rich Jungman | Practice Leader & Fraternal Shareholder, Holmes MurphyRich has been employed with Holmes Murphy since 2002 and currently serves as Practice Leader. His varied responsibilities include: leading the Holmes Murphy Fraternal Practice’s team of 25; new business development; risk management consultation and presentation services; agency financial operations; and client service responsibilities, which encom-passes sales, client advocacy, carrier relationships and oversight of education and preven-tion. Rich has over 29 years of insurance industry experience, with eight years in claims management. Rich graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1990, and in 1986 he was initiated into the Epsilon Nu Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa. Rich serves on the Board of CW Youth Resources, Inc. in Omaha, and he serves on the Board of the Fraternity & Sorority Political Action Committee. Rich is a proud father of three children, and he recently became a grandfather.

Rob Meraz | Associate Vice President - Claims, Holmes MurphyRob graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln with a BS in criminal justice, and he is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. In January 2014, Rob joined the staff at Holmes Murphy, where he currently serves as Associate Vice President - Claims. His varied responsibilities include client advocacy responsibilities in both a primary and secondary role; claim advocacy and assistance for our clients, focusing on positive resolution of prop-erty and general liability losses; field underwriting consulting for the Fraternal Property Management Association; and oversight of property inspection program. Rob has more than 20 years of experience in claims management, damage and liability investigations, as well as vendor and expense management. He became a Fraud Claim Law Specialist in 2011 and a Property Claim Law Specialist in 2012. Rob’s technical expertise and interper-sonal skills allow him to break down complex issues and communicate them in a compre-hensible manner. His extensive knowledge of the claims process is highly beneficial to his clients as well as insurance carriers.
