CaringforyourStudent’sChromebook

AfteryourchildhascompletedtheirDigitalCitizenshiplearningmoduleinschoolandhasbeenallowedtotaketheirChromebookhome,weaskthatyouensurethatyourchildchargestheirdeviceeachnightbeforereturningtoschool.TheChromebookshouldbekeptinanenvironmentfreeofmoisture,anditshouldnothaveobjectsplacedontopofitwhenstored.

TheChromebook’sscreenmaybecomemarkedwithfingerprintsorothermatterfromtimetotime.Weencourageyoutocleanthescreenwithadry,non-abrasivefiber(e.g.,amicromeshcloth),asneeded.Ifresiduedriesonthescreen,pleasewipeitcleanusingaslightlydamp,non-abrasivecloth.Pleasedonotuseanyalcohol-basedsolventonthescreenasitwilldeterioratethecoatingsthathavealreadybeenappliedtothescreenbyLenovo.

Withanynewinitiative,therearerisks.Therefore,pleasebeadvisedthatparentshaveafewoptionspertainingtoliabilityfortheChromebook.

Parentsmaychooseto:

1)havetheirchildbringtheirschool-issueddeviceshome,andnotpurchaseanyadditionalinsurance;

2)havetheirchildbringtheirschool-issueddeviceshome,andpurchaseaninsurancepolicyfromthirdpartiessuchasWorthAveGrouporSquareTrade;or

3)optoutofallowingtheirchildtobringtheirdevicehome,withtheexpectationthattheyprovideaccesstoanInternet-enableddeviceathometocompleterequiredhomework.

beprovided.• Keep the Chromebook and other electronic storage media away from electromagnetic

fields.• Do not expose the Chromebook to direct sunlight, or prolonged extreme temperatures,

(e.g. leaving the Chromebook in a car during extreme hot or cold temperatures forextendedperiodsoftime).

• Donotplace theChromebookon surfaces suchaspaper, cardboard,or carpetwhile it isturnedon.
