MORE THAN VACCINES: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO INCORPORATE TRAVEL HEALTH INTO YOUR PRACTICE

Doug Thidrickson, B.Sc.Pharm, CTH, Access Fort Garry Hans B. Epp, B.Sc.Pharm, RPh, CTH, Pharmacist/Owner, LTC Consultant Pharmacist Britt Kural, B.Sc.Pharm, CDE, CTH Ryan Buffie, B.Sc.Pharm; CTH, Assiniboine Pharmacy

International travel continues an upward trend among Canadians. This increase in demand puts extra burdens on our healthcare system and causes unnecessary delays for travellers. Pharmacies are in a unique position to provide travel services to meet this growing demand.

Pharmacist accessibility, convenience and daily interaction with patients provide opportunities to identify travellers who require a risk assessment and post-travel follow-up. This presentation will address why offering travel services is important, the advantages of pharmacy-based travel services and some of the training challenges and solutions. Finally, there will be a panel discussion and opportunity to ask questions to pharmacists who have successfully incorporated travel health into their practice.

8:15 am CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST Skip Tim’s and join us for your morning coffee and bagel (and get a good seat) before the day’s sessions begin.
