Pharmaceutical Packaging
Product Use To imprint directions, scales, lot numbers and company identification on:
Flexible IV solution, blood and drainage bags Polyethylene overpouches Flexible tubing Polypropylene syringes, eyedroppers, pipettes
Features and Benefits
A dry printing process which lends itself uniquely to decorate components in-line with
other manufacturing processes like molding, assembly, heat seal, filling.
Hot stamping can very easily be used in a clean-room environment, and is in most
cases much more economical than other labeling or marketing methods such as silk
screen, use of adhesive labels, etc.
Easy to change lot numbers and expiration dates by using small inserts in the hot
stamp die.
Hot stamp imprint can be sterilized by steam autoclave, ETO or radiation process.
Unique Solutions
ISO9001/2000 Registered QMS, CFC International is operating a certification system
for products supplied to several of its major pharmaceutical customers. Each lot of
foil is stamped on customer supplied substrate and the imprint subjected to a series
of tests, including steam autoclave where applicable.
Each shipment is accompanied by a certificate of analysis, certifying that the product
meets customer requirements. Because CFC International’s quality control for these
particular products is more stringent than typical incoming QC by the end user, the
foil can be released to production immediately upon receipt. This promotes inventory
reduction and eliminates double work at considerable savings to the customer.
CFC International welcomes audits of its Quality Assurance systems. Production
records, retains and test documentation are maintained for seven years from date of
production.

Pharmaceutical Packaging Foil Construction Pharmaceutical hot stamp foils are manufactured with at 12 micron polyester, or an 18 micron polypropylene carrier and are made to provide easy release with sharp and clean imprint. As a component of FDA approved medical and healthcare products, CFC’s foils are non-toxic and specially formulated to meet this industry’s rigid quality specifications and stringent application and industry requirements. Operating Conditions Stamping is usually done on reciprocating equipment with engraved metal dies. Transfer temperature: PVC, EVA, PET, etc. 220 - 330ºF - 104 -165ºC HDPE, PP and molded components 285 - 375ºF - 140 - 190ºC Dwell time .2 - .5 seconds Polypropylene Carrier Foils (on EK and EP Series) Successfully used on Flexible PVC, EVA and PET solution bags. Advantages of polypropylene carrier film are: Easier release from the carrier with less tendency of the bags to stick to the foil. Increased
productivity. Competitive price. Spent carrier can be sold for recycling into polypropylene pellets and used for injection molding.
Stock colors available: Black, Red, Blue
HDPE overpouches and injection molded parts should be hot stamped with polyester carrier foils because of higher stamping temperatures required. Product Configuration
Pharmaceutical foils are usually razor-slit to the desired width. This provides a very clean edge and
tightly wound rolls, which cannot telescope. Roll lengths of 2000 feet or more are common since this saves on change-over time and reduces
waste. A range of colors available.
