Lady Gaga once said “people laugh

at me because I’m different... well I

laugh at them because they are all the

same.” This is what PHARAOH is all

about... embracing your individuality,

stepping out from the boxed in fashion

world and creating a unique look that

your proud of. What’s the point of style

if it doesn’t give you a slightly nervous

feeling when you walk down the street,

if no one says to you “what the hell

are you wearing?” Our first issue of

PHAROAH is here to inspire and excite

you obsessive freaks. We named this

issue who are you? It’s devoted to the

individual in all of us, looking at vintage

pieces, underground, urban and D.I.Y

fashion. Above all else PHARAOH aims

to inspire your creative style. We believe

in real fashion, real people and real

photography. Nothing in this magazine

has been airbrushed, everyone featured

are ‘normal’ people just like you and I,

not super models. PHARAOH is real, raw

ready for whatever life throws at it.

New York photog-rapher Bill Cun-ningham is most fa-mous for his street style snaps, but now he features in a new documen-tary, its one of the most interesting insights into a pho-tographers life we have ever seen.

This book explores the myths and leg-ends that have been created by the street Artist, Banksy. Col-lated between 2009 and 2011. £5.95 U.O

DO IT

Finding unique jewellery these days is hard, but we found a great way of creating unique minimalist cuffs. We also made some smaller ones and made rings and a hair cuff.

YOU WILL NEED:

+ A SHEET OF PERSPEX + A STANLEY KNIFE OR LITTLE SAW+ AN OVEN+ A FILE

HOW TO:

1. SCORE PERSPEX TO SIZE WITH KNIFE

2. CUT AS DEEP AS YOU CAN WITH THE KNIFE OR SAW AND THEN SNAP OF PIECES

3. HEAT OVEN TO 150

4. HEAT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, IF YOU LEAVE THEM LONGER LITTLE BUBBLES WILL APPEAR WE THINK THIS LOOKS EVEN MORE AWESOME.

5. GET OUT WITH A OVEN GLOVE AND BEN QUICKLY INTO SHAPE. WE USED A HAIR SPRAY BOTTLE. GOOD LUCK

+Elizabeths

biggest fear is water after watching jaws as a child

+Mary-Kate and ashley Olsen’s clothing line is

named after Elizabeth and their brother

James +

New girl on the block Elizabeth Olsen has a lot to live up to being the sibling of the most famous twins in the world, but what’s she bringing to the table? And is she about to up-stage her older sisters?

We’ve long admired Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen since they were babies on the big screen. Their style is still timeless and unique, and annoyingly they manage to throw on a old tee and ripped jeans and look effortlessly amazing. But twins aside there’s a new muse on the scene, Elizabeth Olsen.

The up and coming young actress who is a spitting image of her sisters, is stealing their thunder and making her own way in the world of film and directing. Staring in her first big movie earlier this year Martha Marcy May Marlyne, a mysterious and dark indie film shes made headlines, and still manages to keep her self grounded.

Although Lizzie has been brought up in a privileged life, (it goes without saying when you have two billionaire siblings) she tells asos “people have a weird idea about my up bringing, when silent house and martha... both got into sundance, the producers were like, “were going to get her a place to stay but it wont have a pool

Whos Thrt GirL w

and we cant fly first class, is she OK with that?” I was like, “what are you talking about?! They should see the apartment I live in!” It’s fair to say this Californian beaut has managed to keep her feet on the ground being brought up in a whirlwind of fame. Martha marcy may marlene is Lizzie’s first uk release and had built her credibility with universal praise for her first role. The story is of a young girl trying to rebuild her life with her family after running away from a cult, with events unfolding through flashbacks. Her performance is strong and beautiful and she deserves every good review she’s got. Lizzie plays the role of what she calls a slut or bitch, but says she enjoyed this role more then ever as she had to build a char-acter from scratch. She said she had the best experience she ever had working “that’s the honest truth, no bullshitting.”

EXTRAEXTRA

TOP TIP‘develop your own style and

don’t emulate others.’.

FIRST JOBbefore quentin’s first job she

modelled since 16..

BEST ADVICE‘dont worry about what every-

one else is doing.’

I love my job because...I get to follow my imagination for a living.

A typical day for me is... Cycling to my studio, via a flat-white coffee, then spending the day editing or painting.

The highlight of my career is...Working with Chanel, and Victoria Beckham

My earliest fashion memory is...Putting my mum’s knee high armani boots...

when they came up to my thighs.

I find inspiration in...Old art catalogues on my dad’s shelves, and ripped posters in London.

Growing up I wanted to be... A Chef.

The best feeling in the world is... A proper night’s sleep.

Inspired by cut out cats, and disney, illustrator, fashion film maker and Entrepreneur, Quentin Jones has collaborated with chanel and

victoria beckham creating unique and inspiring fashion films. i’ts no wonder this girl is set to be the next big thing.

FUELLED BY YOUTH CULTURE BEN SHER-MAN HAS GROWN OVER THE LAST 5 DECADES TO A BRAND WHICH WREAKS OF BRTISH CULTURE AND ONE THAT IS SET TO STAY IN THE LIME LIGHT FOR MANY MORE YEARS TO COME. MOST FAMOUSLY THE BEN SHERMAN SHIRT AND THE TEDDY BOY’S MOVE-MENT JOINED TOGETHER LIKE PEAS AND CARROTS. LOVED FOR ITS ECCEN-TRIC PATTERN AND SLIM FITTING ITALIAN DESIGN, THE 60’S YOUTH MOVEMENT ADOPTED THE GINGHAM CHECK, AND THE BRAND EXPLODED ALONG WITH THE BRITISH CULTURE AT THE TIME.

A DECADE DOMINATED BY YOUTH, LONDON HAD BURST INTO BLOOM AND PEOPLES VIENS BURST WITH EXCITEMENT, IT WAS THE 60’S. BEN SHERMAN WAS MORE POPULAR THAN EVER, AND THE SHIRTS WERE REVOLUTIONARY AND SO WAS THE MOD MOVEMENT THROUGH FASH-ION, SEX, DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL LONDON WAS SWITCHED ON. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS EUPHORIC.

IN THE LATE 80’S THE SKIN HEADS SNATCHED THE SHIRT CREATING A SIG-NATURE STYLE WHICH IS SLOWLY CREEP-ING BACK INTO OUR UNDERGROUND MOVEMENT TODAY. ACID WASHED JEANS, BRACES AND DR.MARTENS ALL COMBINED TO CREATE WHAT IS ICON-ICALLY REMEMBERED, AS AN AGGRES-SIVE YET ECCENTRICALLY BRITISH STYLE.

WASTED YOUTH

BEN SHERMAN. THE BRAND. THE LEGACY. THE LEGEND.

T H E BEN SHER-

MAN STORY HAS ALWAYS

BEEN A NICHE. HE OPENED A SHOW-

ROOM ON CARNABY STREET 1961 THEN 2

STORES IN LONDON AND ONE IN BRIGHTON. THE

ORDERS CAME IN FAST AND THEY COULDN’T MAKE SHIRTS

FAST ENOUGH. ORDERING A MIL-LION OF METERS OF YARN AT A TIME

BEN SHERMAN WAS AT THE TOP OF ITS GAME AND REMAINS STRONG TODAY.

MODS, TEDDY BOYS, SKIN HEADS, AND BRIT POP THE BEN SHERMAN SHIRT HAD BEEN

WORN BY ALMOST EVERY YOUTH CULTURE OR STYLE MOVEMENT OF THE LAST 5 DECADES

AND THE BRAND IS DIVERSE AND UNIQUE TODAY.

Its 11 pm on sunday, jan 22nd, and im sitting in my hotel room in london watching shitty tv, a bit jetlagged, and strangely excited to start this tour. I flew out of nyc last night at 10pm, boarded a 6 hr flight on virgin, and arrived in lndn(ill be referring to london as lndn from here on out) at 1030 am…. when we landed I bought a coke and a mag-azine on iphone tips & tricks, mainly for my manager, john, who cant seem to learn it for the life of him. we met my tour manager, michael, outside and shortly after hopped into a cab. john wanted the front seat but ended up hopping in the driver seat (its opposite here) and was yelled at by the driver. fail #1. check. we got into the hotel and I took a shower. mike & I went to the mall across the street. I walked into a vans store and 3 girls who worked there just stared at me. at first I thought they hated me. then they knew who I was. swag. check. walked around a bit. bought a sim card. and had some espresso before I fucking crashed in the middle of everything. my phone wasnt working all day :( luckily i got a lil bit of net in the mall to send some texts and upload a picture. not having a working phone makes you appreciate your sur-roundings. i was forced to pay attention to details instead of mindlessly brows-ing the internet. on the plus side, I now have a blackberry for intl calls and my iphone. oh ya, the last time I was here I was a virgin.

I think thats funny.

everyone kept saying how bad the food would be, but its not that bad. I went back to the hotel, took a 1 hr nap, hopped on fb, and ordered a jalapeno burger with ranch. they forgot the ranch. ugh. I didnt bother ringing room service

again so I used mayo and ketchup (eh). it was ok. a friend came by, grabbed a drink, rolled a joint while john & I talked about some of the shows, and then went downstairs and smoked. the weed here isnt amazing but itll do. its finally sinking in ill be in a few different countries for the next 2 weeks. the cur-rency. the accents. the languages. the foods. the people.

although its hard to leave the people you love at home, its nice knowing your pretty much on your own halfway across the world. I walk around and everything is new. I have no emotional attachments to my surroundings. noth-ing has happened to me here, bad or good, so it doesnt alter my perception to the things around me. I take in eve-rything for what it is. I love that. grow-ing up in the same place, eating at the same restaurants, shopping at the same malls, seeing the same people. we connect places with events, events with emotions, and emotions dictate the outcome of a situation/activity.

im not only lucky I get to experience all of this at a young age, im grateful that there are people in the world who made this all possible for me. it is ultimately up to them if I can afford a plane ticket and a hotel room or not. if I can eat for the day. if they dont buy a ticket I cant play a show. it may sound cliche and blah-blahblahfuckoffandstopbloggingfaggot but i gives no fucks. i love waking up in different places everyday and I dont ever want to settle into a routine.

there will be more of these. peppered with misspelled words, photos and vid-eos. if you dont live under a rock and follow any of my social networks youll be able to see it all pimpin’.
