Updates from Ground Zero...

Drinking Water & health intervention is the demand of the hour!

Many areas being marooned for more than five days by now people faces acute drinking water

problem. Cold, fever and cough are seen in common among people along with diarrhea and

other gastro related problems.

Govt. has announced a special package for the pension holders of the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh & Puri which has been affected by heavy rainfall and floods due to cyclone and current low pressure which is as follows :”

“Pension holders in all the affected districts will be given one month additional pension of Rs.300/-

during distribution of pension of November 2013. Pensioners under all schemes will be covered

under this. About 1(one) lakh pensioners who are basically old age persons, differentially abled,

widows and destitute will be benefitted by this.”

Special Package

Activities Report of Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) and PROGREESS had

jointly been performed Animal carcasses disposal more than 142 and Health, Hygiene &

Sanitation care and protection campaign had taken up in more than 5 Slums in Berhampur

Municipal Corporation areas. Now we are planning for beginning Health camp in the affected

areas.

ACS (Finance) & ACS(Revenue) had a meeting today afternoon (27th oct 2013) with INGOs

and NGOs operating relief distribution and took a stock specifically on shelter/tarpaulin

support provided (to be provided) by the agencies. Pressing need in Ganjam, Balasore and

other district is tarpaulin/polythene and all the organisations were appealed to respond as

soon as possible with whatever number. In order to avoid duplicacy the ACS finance asked to

keep a database of agencies providing support to the district with a quantification.

Cleaning House and volunteers supports for its Renovation works, Pure drinking water supply,

Supply of Bleaching power & Halogen tablets and Dry Food distribution was successfully held at

Raghupati Nagar, Depo street, Bijipur Bauri street, Near-Radio station and Spectrum colony Slum

dweller area in Berhampur Municipal Corporation area.

And Sanitation and Cleaning service had done in Chatrapur and Ganjam Block and more than

thousands of victims were benefited by our dedicated sacrifice services in the needy/destitute area.

#. Health, Hygiene & Sanitation care and protection campaign:-

PURIIn Kanas block Gadabalabhadrapur, Baku, Sahupada, Supremg, Beypur & Kadma grampanchayat drinking water problem has continue. Now with the support of CBS volunteers medical team reached in Khandahata Bijipur & Benagaon grampanchayats & general medicine distribution has been started. Animals are required fodder.O P R F V o l u n t e e r s engaged in packing of cook food 2000 nos & distributed in village Gangapur of Patlang GP.FREEDOM,SOUL,GJS,GUS,ISERD,DI,WARRR ,OJKSS,PRAGATI,SOLAR,DUHITA ,CBS and SAI from Puri district disaster response forum are going to the field for WASH sensitization cum disinfection of all water sources,village cleaning,sanitation promotion in 4 0 v i l l a g e s i n K r u s h n a p r a s a d block,Pipili,Brahmagiri,Satyabadi,Delanga,,Purisadar, Nimapara and Kanas block.

PALLISHREE has provided food to 116 families

Ganjam:Volunteers and staff of aaina distributed dry food in 550 household of marooned villages e.g. Inginathi, Sariapali, Mandar, Ustapalli of

Belaguntha Block. The block administration supported the team with the boat to reach out the marooned villages. Another 500 household of Ratang & M a n d a r v i l l a g e w i l l b e distributed tomorrow. The GDRF(Ganjam Disaster response forum) forum had a meeting with the District Collector Ganjam and PD-DRDA yesterday to strengthen the coordinated effort. The

forum is immediately preparing a profile of Ganjam NGOs and CBOs and mobilizingvolunteers for the district pool and local level interventions. Information on local NGOs activities on post disaster intervention will be updated on daily basis to government, donors and different stakeholders.
