DUCKENFIELD Endeavour Rowing Club. Established in 1990 and regularly used by Hunter Valley Grammer School,

Newcastle Uni and Maitland Grossman School.

WHERE DOES THE HUNTER RIVER START?The Hunter River begins as a series of small

pools of water bubbling up out of the ground from springs in the NSW Barrington Tops.

From the springs three small creeks are formed called the First, Second and Third Hunter. The creeks join to form the Hunter

River which travels 470Km from the Barrington Tops through the Hunter Valley

to the Port of Newcastle and into the ocean.

HINTONDue to the close proximity of the

Hunter and Paterson Rivers and the low elevation of surrounding ground, the town is often isolated for a number of

days during periods of exceptionally high rainfall. Most recently this happened in March 2000, June 2007 & March 2013.

PATERSONIn its heyday Paterson had four stores, five hotels,

two shipyards, a sawmill, a tannery, four blacksmiths, two butchers, a bakery and a boarding school for girls.
