So you wake up on Wednesday, Sept. 21st and go about your daily routine; get your coffee, sit down at your computer, maybe check your email and like so many other peo-ple you log onto Facebook. What’s this?! The Facebook you knew and loved has completely revamped again. Like many other people, you start to complain about all the new changes, or you would if you can find where the heck the status box went. Well, if you are tired of Facebook, you are in luck! Here are three social networking sites that could potentially replace Facebook.
1. Google +: This is the main cul-prit for the Facebook changes, but that does not mean that Google+ is bad. Google has taken pretty much everything you loved about Face-book and fixed those pesky priva-cy-setting problems. Google+ has a system called circles where you can place your friends and fam-ily and designate which circle ev-eryone goes in. The connivance of this is when you post a status or a photo you can choose which circles
Facebook Forces Users to Consider Different Networking Optionscan view that post. Say you want to post those beach pictures so your boss can’t see them but your friends can. Just choose the friends circle and hit post and VOILA! You have now made it so only your friends can see that picture.
2. Bebo: Now I know most of you may have heard of Google+ but I doubt many of you have heard of Bebo. Bebo was originally bought by AOL and tried to hit the social media scene a tad too early, thus making AOL lose money, forcing them to shut it down. Now in 2010 a new company, Criterion Capital Partners, bought this from AOL, reopening it in 2011. Bebo is great if you loved the old Facebook. It has profiles like Facebook, links and likes and it recently got Notifica-tions like Facebook has. This site has been thriving; it is estimated that 500,000,000 users login daily. So if you liked the way the old Face-book was, this is the site for you.
3. Twitter: Okay, I know you all have heard about Twitter, but maybe you weren’t quite sure what it was about, so here you go. If you enjoyed reading people’s status and
look at the links they post in their status but wish they could have been shorter in length, then Twit-ter is the place for you. Twitter us-ers are confined to only 140 char-acters in each tweet at a time. That tweet is then sent to anyone who is following you on Twitter and then that person can retweet you back, sort of like how you could comment on people’s status on Facebook. The nice thing about Twitter, however, is that this process is very stream-lined; there aren’t pictures or Farmville requests on your Twitter page. This makes it a really good site for stalking companies and ce-lebrities that you like, if you are in to that thing, of course.
So there you go, three very good social networking sites to replace that ghastly old Facebook. Of course, you could wait around and see if Facebook will revert, but the chances are that things will be changing again soon and prob-ably not for the better. So go on give these sites a try. Who knows, maybe you’ll add them to that cup of coffee you have in the morning.
ment (and decision making) is go-ing out to the Bison Inn on Thurs-day night for “Thirsty Thursday,” knowing you have an exam at 9 a.m. the next morning. Not only should you be making time to study be your first priority, but also ev-erything else should be scheduled around studying. Don’t procrasti-nate when it comes to school. When you know a ten-page paper is due, begin it a week before the due date instead of pounding it out the night before. Time management is an im-portant study skill to be successful in college.
In order to become a graduate, it is important to prioritize your studies before anything. Because of its size, Bethany allows students to have hands-on experiences with the newest technology and equip-ment available as early as fresh-man year. Face-to-face time with professors is something that Beth-any offers to its lucky students. So take advantage of your surround-ings; the reason for attending col-lege and spending such an absurd about of money is to study and achieve a degree.
