Food for thought……

Arriving early for Mass is a good practice. This allows us to prepare and even say a short prayer of thanksgiving before we begin the Holy Mass.

WHERE WE GOT THE BIBLE

DID THE CATHOLIC CHURCH TRY TO STOP DISSEMINATION OF THE BIBLE IN LUTHER'S TIME? Luther’s Bible was heretical because: (1) he inserted the word alone in Romans 3:28 to

distort the meaning, ie. he made it read “For we hold that a man is justified by faith alone apart from the observance of the law.” (Compare with James 2:24), (2) he rejected the Deuterocanonicals as uninspired, and (3) he eliminated the books of Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation.

Our Holy Father Pope Francis has enlivened the Church to re new our spirit of evangeliza-tion. Through their ministries and education sup-ported by funds provided by Together in Mission, recipient parishes and schools are doing just that, reaching out to their communities and making the message of God's love known to those around them.

The funds we collect will directly benefit more than 250,000 of our Catholic brethren, and ensure our par-ishes and schools remain centers of faith and hope for their surrounding communities.

Archbishop Gomez will soon be sending letters to those that have generously given to Together in Mis-sion in the past. If you receive this letter, we ask you renew your support.

May God bless you for your generous support of this year's appeal.

AUTHORITY FROM GOD

According to Moses, the people decided they didn’t want to hear God’s voice directly any more. It was much too frightening. Why couldn’t God send human teachers, prophets, instead? God agreed, but with a warning. The people had better listen to those teachers, because they spoke in God’s name. That arrangement, though, had its own problems, for them and for us. How do I know this teacher is truly from God? And if the teacher is from God, are all parts of the teaching meant for me? We have the Church and scripture to help us with those questions, but still there are always a few loose ends. That is the powerful significance of the sentence in today’s Gospel: “The people were astonished at his teach-ing, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.” The people knew that this Jesus was authen-tic—truly a teacher sent by God. They knew it by hearing him. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Children use a variety of online services, and each of these services can have different safety concerns. How-ever, there are some basic tips which you can employ no matter how your children use the Internet: Keep the com-

puter in a high-traffic area of your home; establish limits for which online sites children may visit and for how long; remem-ber that Internet technology can be mobile, so make sure to monitor cell phones, gaming devices, and laptops; surf the Internet with your children and let them show you what they like to do online; know who is connecting with your children online and set rules for social networking, instant messaging, emailing, online gaming, and using webcams. cope Francis has asked all Catholics worldwide to use the months ahead as a time to preparation & prayer for the World Meeting of families to be held in Philadelphia, September, 2015.

Pope Francis prayed; “Let every family be a welcoming place Of goodness and peace for children and the elderly, for the sick and the lonely,

for the poor and the needy.”

para los pobres y los necesitados” cope Francis also asks all families to enrich and energize fam-ily life by praying the “World Meeting of Families Prayer” each day for their own family’s personal intentions.

“Love Is Our Mission: the Family Fully alive” “El amor es nuestra misión: la familia plenamente viva”
