Facilitating health literacy and access to information for both

clinicians and patients, so that:

Patients feel part of the treatment decision and are supported

through their healthcare journey.

Clinicians are provided with timely and useful information to

assist with providing the right medicines to the right patients at

the right time.

• Information for consumers is not in friendly format – Consumer

Medicines Information (CMI) is often complicated and not

used/read by patients.

• How to we create content that consumers will engage with in a

format that will be consumed?

Improving clinicians’ access to devices or information to enable

better diagnosis.

Artificial Intelligence, big data and electronic medical records all

play a key role in clinicians utilising all available data to make a

fully informed diagnosis.

• Numerous patients go undiagnosed in AF for example. AF is implicated

in 1 in 5 Strokes. AF is a serious heart rhythm condition, affecting more

than 460,000 Australians.1

A person with AF has a 5-fold increased risk of stroke compared to a

person without AF.2,3

• Many people with AF do not experience any symptoms at all and are

unaware they have the condition. So how do we increase screening and

detection?

Providing technological tools and solutions that facilitate or

encourage patient adherence to medication regimens to optimise

treatment.

These can be relevant to chronic or acute conditions that are

episodic, recurring exacerbations or one off situations, and may or

may not be life threatening.

For example, ideas might compliment medication by improving

health literacy, lifestyle suggestions and medication reminders.

• Common issue with all conditions, including mental illness.1

• How do you educate people on continuing their medication even when

they are well?

Adherence & compliance

Ongoing collaborations – Australia

An adherence App with a difference…

Perx are an Australian based start up who have developed a compliance and

adherence app which uses consumer behavioural techniques, such as

gamification and rewards, to change how Medication taking is viewed.

Pfizer have worked with Perx to help scale and further develop their app

We have commenced a pilot program to allow Pfizer to assess

the potential impact on patient adherence.
