WSA TechnologyTurns your off gas into money

The wet gas sulfuric acid (WSA) process is a proprietary development by Haldor Topsoe AS, nominated by EuropeanCommissions as the Best Available TechniqueinDecember 2006. With more than 130 references plant worldwide

since its introduction in the 1980s it has been recognized as an efficient process for recovering sulfur from various

    process gases.

    Salient Points

A Topsoe WSA plant has lower investment costs

than a Claus plant with Tail Gas Unit.

The most stringent environmental regulations can

be met, even without tail gas treatment

WSA is much simpler than a Claus plant. Neither tail

gas treatment nor sulfur degassing is required.

Widely used to regenerate spent sulfuric acidfrom

    Alkylation Unit

Ammonia and hydrocarbons in the feed gas will not

    cause problems.

WSA technology is well suited for handling H2S

gases. Also gases with high water vapor content,

such as sour water stripper gas.

Attractive Opex The value of superheated HP

steam and sulfuric acid by far exceeds the cost of

the WSA plant and its operation
