SewingNotes: • Sew all seams right sides together using a 1⁄4” (.64cm)
seam allowance. • Many of the fabrics in this collection are directional
prints; note the orientation for construction.
Block Assembly1. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the
wrong side of each 11⁄2” x 11⁄2” (3.81cm x 3.81cm) square.
2. Unit 1 Align (1) 11⁄2” x 11⁄2” (3.81cm x 3.81cm) Fabric A square with each lower corner of (1) 31⁄2” x 4” (8.89cm x 10.16cm) Fabric H rectangle, noting the line direction (Fig. 1). Sew on the drawn line. Open and press the triangles and trim the seam allowances to 1⁄4” (.64cm).

3. Unit 2. Align (1) 11⁄2” x 11⁄2” (3.81cm x 3.81cm) Fabric H square with each end of (1) 11⁄2” x 31⁄2” (3.81cm x 8.89cm) Fabric A rectangle, noting the line direction (Fig. 2). Sew on the drawn line. Open and press the triangles and trim the seam allowances to 1⁄4” (.64cm).

5. Lay out (2) 5” x 4” (12.70cm x 10.16cm) Fabric A rectangles, (1) Cat Unit, (1) 3” x 101⁄2” (7.62cm x 26.70cm) Fabric A rectangle, and (1) 31⁄2” x 101⁄2” (8.89cm x 26.70cm) Fabric A rectangle as shown in (Fig. 4). Sew the pieces in each row together, then sew the rows together to form the block, measuring 101⁄2” x 101⁄2” (26.70cm x 26.70cm).

6. Repeat Steps 1-5 to make a total of (20) blocks: (3) each using Fabrics A, C, D, E, and F backgrounds and Fabric H cat; (3) Fabric B background and Fabric E cat; (1) Fabric H background and Fabric G cat; and (1) Fabric G background and Fabric A cat.
Quilt Top AssemblyNote: Refer to the (Quilt Layout) for block placement and orientation.7. Lay out the quilt blocks into (5) rows of (4) blocks
each. Sew the blocks in each row together alternately with (3) 1” x 101⁄2” (2.54cm x 26.70cm) Fabric G sashing strips. Make a total of (5) rows, each measuring 101⁄2” x 42” (26.70cm x 106.68cm).
8. Sew (4) 1” x 101⁄2” (2.5cm x 26.70cm) Fabric G sashing strips together alternately with (3) 1” x 1” Fabric E (2.5cm x 2.5cm) squares to make (1) sashing row. Make a total of (4) sashing rows, each measuring 1” x 42” (2.5cm x 106.68cm) .
9. Sew the block rows and sashing rows together alternately, matching adjacent seams, to complete the quilt top. Quilt top should measure 42” x 521⁄2” (106.68cm x 133.35cm).
Finishing10. Sew the Backing pieces together and trim to
measure 50” x 61” (127.00cm x 154.94cm). 11. Layer the backing right side down, batting, and
center the quilt top right side up. Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim the backing and batting even with the quilt top.
12. Sew the (5) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric E strips together end to end using diagonal seams to make a continuous strip. Fold strip in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and press.
13. Leaving an 8” (20.32cm) tail of binding, sew the binding to the top of the quilt through all layers, match-ing raw edges of the binding and quilt top. Miter corners. Stop sewing approximately 12” (30.48cm) from the beginning. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along the quilt edge. Where the loose ends meet, fold ends back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as the stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding with right sides together. Trim seam to 1⁄4” (.64cm) and press seam open. Finish sewing bind-ing to the quilt top.
14. Turn the binding to the back of quilt and hand-stitch in place
