Winter safety tips for dogs of all sizesBy Dave Brown | Ottawa Outdoors Magazine

A dog is one of the remaining reasons why some people can be persuaded to go for a walk.

    ~ O. A. Battista

When winter arrives the last thing you want is for your canine to grrrr during the brrrr of the weather.

For we human types, when the snow and cold roll in we just don our gay apparel, including our trusty Canadian tuque, mitts, winter jacket and boots.

Not so for Fido. If your pets are not dressed for their winter walk, it can leave them whining, shiver-ing, moving more slowly and possibly looking at you with anxiety and bewilderment as to why you have them out in this frozen tundra.

I know you mean no harm, so for this season ahead, lets get them ready to enjoy it without freez-ing in the process.

THE BREEDThe first step is to deduce whether your dog

needs any outdoor gear for its winter protection.Lets face it, dogs either love winter or they

dont. Many of the big dogs with thick coats are pretty prepared when prancing among the snowflakes. You just have to keep a watchful eye on their feet and their outdoor habits. They will need some attention when they get back indoors, but generally their bod-ies may be fine.

If your dog is smaller with shorter hair, or older, or both, a cosy dog sweater and boo-ties might be the required winter wear for their ultimate enjoyment.

WINTER SWEATERIf your dog loves being outside, but the cold not

so much, then definitely research getting a winter coat or sweater. They vary in price from about $30 to almost $200, mostly depending on the size of your dog. Be sure to take measurements of your pet before heading out to purchase one.

WINTER BOOTIESThere are many reasons to get booties for your

pet. Paws pet peeves include sharp ice, road and driveway salt, antifreeze, and other chemical de-icers. The dog also gauges temperature through its paws, and consequently cold paws lead to a shiver-ing canine.

A good pair of booties will not only provide pro-tection from the elements, but will keep the paws warm and provide extra traction on ice.

Ah, but getting the booties on is an art unto itself, potentially requiring bribery.

First, check with outdoor retailers or pet-specific stores so you purchase the right kind of booties. Then consider putting a booty on one paw while in the house and rewarding the dog with a treat.

Repeat this process for two, three and finally all four paws. Once your dog is used to the booties -- and provided theyre a good type that will stay on outside youre all set for the winter ahead.

SAFETY TIPS Ive noticed more and more glowing dog leashes,

dog vests and flashing lights on both owner and pet. This is wonderful as it lets both be visible to the driving public during the darkness of early morning and evening walks.

Dont let your pet drink from puddles in the win-ter; they could easily be filled with toxic salts and chemicals, which are harmful if digested.

Be watchful of frostbite in the most common areas, such as the tips of the ears and tail. If you suspect your pet suffers from it, get in touch with a veterinarian right away.

Keep your pet away from frozen lakes. Keeping them on leash would ensure this. Ottawa has had examples of pets falling through, and sadly, owners trying to rescue them sometimes result-ing in losing both. Be safe.

WHEN BACK HOMEIf you dont have a coat and booties for your pet,

you can still keep them safe on their winter walks.Be sure to have an old wet, warm towel to re-

move the residue of mud, ice, and street chemicals picked up from the walk. Use a dry towel to then dry your pets paws, legs and belly. Give close attention to removing ice caught between the paw pads. If you dont wash this dirt from your pets paws, the dog will be licking it off two minutes after you get in the door.

Winter will soon be upon us, and walks with your pet on crisp, sunny, snowy days lie ahead. Fol-low these tips and youll both enjoy the season.

SPAY, NEUTER AND JOINT DISEASEBy Dana Scott

There are three topics you shouldnt discuss with friends: religion, politics and manda-tory spay/neuter. Talking frankly about spay/neuter is worth the backlash however because the health risks associated with it, especially when done in a young dog, are worthy of discussion. That isnt to say that dogs shouldnt be spayed or neutered; thats a personal decision best left to the pet owner. Like vaccines and most routine veterinary proce-dures however, vets spend a lot of time discussing why you should spay or neuter your dog, but spend very little time talking about why you shouldnt. The goal of this article is to give you the information your vet doesnt, so you can make the best possible decision for your dog.

Ill preface the article by stating that I breed Labrador Retrievers, a breed that can be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as cruciate tears. The families that get one of my puppies receive a warranty of sorts, saying that I have done everything I can to prevent these issues and if, despite my best efforts, the puppy Ive bred ends up with a debilitat-ing joint issue, I will refund the purchase price to the puppys family.

There is one disclaimer however and its as follows: if the family decides to spay or neuter the puppy before 24 months of age, my warranty is null and void. The reason is that research shows I cant guarantee the puppys joints wont be affected by this seemingly simple medical procedure. Spay/neuter has the capability of permanently changing a healthy puppy joint into an unhealthy one.

ABNORMAL GROWTHAt the heart of the matter is how spay/neu-

ter affects the dogs hormones. When a dogs reproductive organs are surgically removed, the sex hormones they produce also disappear. The sex hormones are responsible for more than just sexual behaviors and one of their responsibilities is regulating growth.

Breeders can readily spot the difference between an intact dog and a neutered dog: neutered dogs have longer limbs, narrower heads and bodies, and they are lighter in bone. When the sex hormones are removed, the growth hormones are missing im-portant regulatory input and the bones continue to grow longer than they ought to. Studies have proven this to be true (Salmeri et al, JAVMA 1991).

In each long bone there is a growth (epiphyseal) plate, which is a band of cartilage found near the joint. This growth plate lays down bone as a puppy develops and, as it builds bone, the bone becomes longer and the puppy gets larger and taller. Once maturity is reached, this growth plate turns into bone and the puppys full height is reached.

When dogs are sterilized before maturity, the closure of some but not all growth plates may be delayed and this would be especially true if a dog is sterilized when only some of his growth plates are closed.

The dogs elbow and stifle joints are similarly designed. Above each joint is one bone (the hu-merus and femur respectively), and below are two bones (in the elbow there is the radius and ulna and in the stifle there is the tibia and fibula). One bone

  • 6 I ottawapetexpo www.ottawapetexpo.ca

effectively sits on two. What would happen if one of those bones underneath the joint stopped growing before the other bone and they ended up being dif-ferent lengths? It would be very much like building a house on a slope: the weight of the home wouldnt be evenly distributed and there would be increased load at the lowermost corner of the house.

The same could very well happen in the elbow and stifle joint when closure of the growth plates is artificially delayed and this could in turn lead to increased risk of both elbow dysplasia and cranial cruciate ligament tears.

There is research that supports this. Whitehair et al (JAVMA Oct 1993), found that spayed and neu-tered dogs were twice as likely to suffer cranial cruci-ate ligament rupture. Slauterbeck et al also found an increased risk (Clin Orthop Relat Res Dec 2004).

Chris Zinc DVM PhD DACVP explains, if the femur has achieved its genetically deter-mined normal length at eight months when a dog gets spayed or neutered, but the tibia, which normally stops growing at 12 to 14 months of age continues to grow, then an abnormal angle may develop at the stifle. In addition, with the extra growth, the lower leg below the stifle likely becomes heavier (because it is longer), and may cause increased stresses on the cranial cruciate ligament.

Additionally, sterilization can cause a loss of bone mass (Martin et al, Bone 1987), and obesity (Edney et al, Vet Rec Apr 1986). Both of these factors could lead to an increased risk of cranial cruciate ligament tear. Furthermore, spayed/neutered dogs are greater than three times more likely to suffer from patellar luxation (Vidoni et al, Wien Tierartztl Mschr 2005).

HIP DYSPLASIAThe thought of hip dysplasia is enough to

strike fear into any large breed dog lover. For that reason, the bulk of research on spay/neuter and joint disease is focused on this disorder.

Dogs who are sterilized before the age of six months have a 70% increased risk of developing hip dysplasia. The authors of this study (Spain et al, JAVMA 2004), propose that it is possible that the increase in bone length that results from early-age gonadectomy results in changes in joint conformation, which could lead to a diagnosis of hip dysplasia.

There is more evidence that spay/neuter can increase the risk of hip dysplasia. Van Hagen et al (Am J Vet Res, Feb 2005), found that of the sample dogs diagnosed with hip dysplasia, those that were neutered six months prior to the diagnosis were nearly twice as likely to develop hip dysplasia.

Interestingly, a study by Dannuccia et al (Calcif Tissue Int, 1986), found that removing the ovaries of Beagles caused increased remodeling of the pelvic bone, which also suggests an increased risk of hip dysplasia with sterilization.

OSTEOSARCOMAAlthough not technically a joint issue, osteosar-

coma is a cancer of the bone. This bears mentioning because spayed and neutered dogs are twice as likely to develop this deadly disease (Ru et al, Vet J, Jul 1998).

In another study, male Rottweilers, a breed susceptible to osteosarcoma, were nearly four times more likely to develop osteosarcoma than intact dogs (Cooley et al, Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev, Nov 2002). In fact, Rottweilers spayed or neutered before one year of age had a 28.4%(males) and 25.1% (females) risk of developing osteosarcoma. Interestingly, the researchers concluded from their results that the longer the dogs were exposed to sex hormones, the lower their risk of osteosarcoma.

PLAYING ROULETTEThere are other related risks with spay/neu-

ter, including an increased risk of many cancers, hypothyroidism, diabetes, urogenital disorders, cognitive impairment, obesity and adverse vaccine reactions not to mention the risk associated with the surgery and the anesthetic. These risks should all be considered when it comes time to decide if spay/neuter is an option for your dog.

What does seem to be clear is that the risk of joint disease in particular is greatly exaggerated if the dog is sterilized before the growth plates close. Its important to remember that the sex hormones do play a synergistic role in your dogs growth and development and their removal will create imbal-ance in the body. Just what the fallout from this imbalance entails remains to be seen, as research into the effects of sterilization is in its infancy, even though hysterectomies on humans and spay/neuter on dogs has been accepted as a normal procedure for decades!

In addition to preventative measures, BioJOINT is a highly concentrated formula that helps:

The age at which the growth plates close is entirely dependent on the dog and the breed. In general, the larger the dog, the later the growth plates will close. In giant breeds, this could be nearly two years of age.

CONCLUSIONGetting back to my puppy contract, given the

above research, I simply cant guarantee the puppies I breed will have healthy joints if they are spayed or neutered, especially before the age of two. Whether the puppys family decides to keep their dog intact or sterilize him after that age is entirely up to the family. I do an extremely good job of screening the homes that apply for one of my puppies and if they arent responsible enough to keep an intact animal, they certainly arent responsible enough to deserve one of my precious puppies in the first place.

People who are involved in rescues and shelters may have a different view on this and they are cer-tainly entitled to it. When considering if and when your dog should be spayed or neutered however, its important that you make the decision based on facts and try to steer clear of an emotional response that

may affect the health and longevity of your dog. Its really not for me or your vet to dictate what you should do with your dog.

Happily, there are alternatives to the complete removal of the sexual organs. Vets are starting to experiment with zinc injections to sterilize male dogs. This leaves about half of the circulating testos-terone available to the body. Vasectomies and tubal ligations are also becoming more popular and they have the happy consequence of less interference with the sex hormones and your dog gets to keep his reproductive organs right where nature intended them to be.

You have a choice in whether and when your dog is spayed or neutered and how important it is to you that his/her sexual organs and hormones remain in place. Once your dog is spayed or neutered, you cant reverse your decision, so dig a little deeper and you just might find a solution that you and your dog can live with, happily and healthfully.

MOBILE SPA TAKES OFFGrooming your pets in the comfort of home By Jayme Montero, CFMG

Yes, Im a cat groomer. When I tell people this it is usually followed by a pause. People try to figure out if they should laugh at me, doubt me or possibly even pray for me. Im dead serious. This is what I do.

I never knew I would be where I am today. I took a chance. I flew all the way to Greenville, South Caro-lina to attend the National Cat Groomers Institute of America (NCGIA), the only cat exclusive grooming school in the world. Upon my graduation as a Certi-fied Feline Master Groomer I was given a number 11.27.153. This meant at the time of my gradua-tion I was the 11th person in Ontario, The 27th in Canada and the 153rd in the WORLD to hold this title. Currently there are 217 CFMGs worldwide.

It became evident to me that there were limited resources when owners attempted to seek help with their cat problems such as long nails, shedding, matting, hairballs, dandruff and odor. These prob-lems become equally distressing to the cat living with these conditions and in turn kitty becomes reluctant to a helping hand.

Cats are greasy creatures. They spend time in litterboxes, bathrooms, perhaps the outdoors. They spend another great portion of time coating them-selves in their own saliva and yet people still believe the myth that cats groom themselves. If that was the case why were so many cats living with these unsanitary issues? If we all licked ourselves instead of showering would we really be clean?!

This is why upon my return from NCGIA I began operating Purrdy Paws Feline Mobile Spa, the first and only feline exclusive mobile spa in Ottawa, and to my current knowledge, in Canada. I then hired on my assistant Amanda and together we offer professional and effective grooming solu-tions to cat owners all over the city and surrounding areas.

To most peoples surprise we do not arrive to your appointment with a suit of body armor and gloves to our armpits! We work exclusively hands-on in my completely outfitted Mercedes Benz Sprinter van with your furbaby. We use feline safe equip-ment and products in a one-on-one environment to create minimal stress. We deal with all types of tem-peraments and accommodate each cats individual needs as we groom. Even the most reluctant kitties are treated with kindness and respect.

Now almost one year since this dream all started I am excited and proud to now launching Purrdy Paws Canine Mobile Spa. A mobile spa service exclusively for your pooch! Dogs are not crated or caged dried and our groomers can work one-on-one

making even a nerv-ous canine feel more at ease.

I am confident that our Canine Mobile Spa will provide you with some of Ottawas most talented and knowledgeable groomers who will work at building a healthy trusting relationship with your pet.

Annette Bamper is one of those groomers. Annette has been grooming since 1984. Since then she has been a grooming instructor, show and creative groomer as well as a professional handler. She strongly believes a dog should never fear a groomers visit.

Annette says; Trust is a two way street. A groomer has to develop a trust relationship with a dog in order that it can relax and enjoy grooming. Dogs are pack animals and have great instincts (as long as we humans dont send them mixed signals) so a groomer becomes part of their pack eventually once they trust in each other. Its a funny thing that sometimes people get jealous when their dog gets more excited hearing the groomers name than the owners....

However, we as groomers are not magicians. We recognize that illness and the wrong diet can

attribute to poor hair quality and grooming problems. We believe a pets longevity and quality of life is based on a combination of regular veterinary care,

a high quality diet and a regular grooming routine. We are here to help! Have questions? Ask us! Call us today and enjoy the convenience

HOW TO SAVE MONEY IN THE NEW YEAR5 money-saving tips that will help you spoil your dog without breaking the bankDIVIDE AND CONQUER

    1. Typically, larger bags of kibble are less expensive per volume unit. Instead of buying an individual smaller bag of kibble each month, try purchasing a single larger bag of food. Divide the large bag into smaller, air tight containers and save a few pennies each month.

You can use simple plastic containers for storage or choose from any number of stylish dog food canisters that will look smashing in your kitchen, pantry or hallway.

SWAP OUT THE FUN 2. We all like to spoil our pupsters with lots of fun

toys, but the adorable collection of plush toys, chew toys and bouncy balls can start to add up in price. And at the end of the day, our dogs rarely play with all of them.

So roundup your best friends and their furkids, bring along your gently used toys and a few tasty snacks and have a toy swap party. Not only will your dogs get an afternoon of socializing, but they will go home with a bag of new goodies they dont need to know they are second hand.

COVER UP!3. Often when it comes time to replace your dogs

bed, it is because it is looking dingy, stained and rather dishevelled. Usually, however, the actual pillow base is in good form. So, wander over to your

local fabric shop and find some durable, pretty new threads to recover your old dog bed with. Suddenly, it is brand new at half the cost.

RUN, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN4. When the new year hits, many pet parents decide

that it is high-time to join a gym. But instead of doling out membership fees, why not invest in your own independent running regime with your favourite canine pal? All it will cost you is a pair of new sneakers and the same amount of time you would have spent at the gym. Plus, bonus, you will get to exercise your dog and spend more time together.

TREAT YA SELF 5. Dog treats are a must in the world of pet

parenthood, but if youre looking to save a few pennies in the new year why not consider baking your own wholesome goodies? The benefit of baking treats at home is that you can make them in bulk and reduce cost.

DOCKDOGS CANADADockDogs is the largest and most diversified presenter of dock diving Dog Performance Sports in

the world. Three competitions combined to make one action-packed family oriented show! THE EVENTS

Big Air is essentially a long jump for dogs. Speed Retrieve is a timed event where dogs race to retrieve a bumper toy suspended 2 above the water. Extreme Vertical is the equivalent of a high jump for dogs. Iron Dog is a triathlon for those dogs that compete in all three of the events. The best scores in each event are tallied, with the goal being to get the highest number of points in total.

PAWS ON FIRE FLYBALL TOURNAMENTFlyball is a high speed team sport for dogs and their people. Team is very much at the

heart of ityoull see competitors cheering for their teammates dogs as loudly as for their own. Flyball is a relay race where two fourdog teams race against each other in parallel lanes.

Each dog jumps four hurdles, triggers a springloaded box to release a ball, catches the ball and carries it back over the hurdles to the starting line, at which time the next dog is released and the next and the next. Speed is important, but accuracy counts too any error and that dog has to rerun, adding to the teams total time.

Paws On Fire Flyball Club is hosting two 1Day flyball tournaments at the Ottawa Pet Expo!

CANOE CAMPING AND YOUR DOGBy Cathy Brown & Alex Debolt

CANINE CANOE CAMPING POINTERS If you plan to use a lifejacket for Rover, buy

one that fits properly and has a handle. (Excellent for grabbing Rover and lifting him back into the canoe.)

Remember: dogs feel the heat far more than you do. On hot days, try to schedule your paddling time in the early morning or early evening.

If you must travel during the heat of the day, stop periodically to let your dog cool off in the water. Remember that Rover needs clean drinking water too.

If you use a pump to purify your water, we suggest you pump his as well, to avoid canine intestinal problems.

If black flies and mosquitoes can drive moose out of the woods, your city pooch is likely bugged as well. Avons Skin so Soft has mild insect repellent properties; it wont harm your dogs coat or skin. Try rubbing some under his belly, around his snout and on his ears.

Toilet your dog before you leave. Absolutely nothing will settle a dog in need. Your trip will be miserable as he looks for the right spot.

Remember to bring a leash as well as a tie-out (a longer rope to secure your dog). If Rover is prone to running after wildlife, a stout rope securing him to a tree can save his life. Also, if an emergency occurs, you can keep him out of harm while you deal with the situation.

Never tie your dog in the boat! By doing so youd endanger the lives of dog and human passengers if the canoe tipped or if Rover

jumped ship. Keep in mind how sore your knees or bottom

can be after a first day in the canoe. Consider letting Rover use your ThermaRest as a mat.

If the dog does jump and you cannot safely catch him, let him go and follow him into shore. Dont stay in one place talking to him, or he may not want to leave and will remain by the boat doing circles. If necessary, paddle the canoe ahead, leading him to shore.

If your dog likes playing fetch, he may think the fishing lure you are casting is for him to retrieve.

As you plan your trip, consider Rovers age, size, fitness level and breed. A St. Bernard will not likely enjoy a day in a canoe. Sometimes, no matter how romantic something sounds, the practicalities are simply not fun for dog or owner. Consider these factors honestly, and plan a trip you can both enjoy.

Now, picture yourself sitting on a point overlooking a beautiful lake, gazing at a sky filled with more stars than you have ever seen. Imagine listening to the chorus of frogs, interrupted by an occasional howl from a distant wolf pack. Smell the night air and feel its misty dampness on your cheeks. Warmth emanates from your dog, curled up next to you, exhausted from the days adventure. It doesnt get better than this.

    SHOULD I GET A BIRD?

Youve heardand seen firsthand that birds can be wonderful pets. And youre pondering, whether or not you should purchase one of these delightful creatures. Youve just come back from a short vacation, visiting your long-time friend, whom you havent seen in years. She owned a beautiful parrot. His feathers were stunning, his manners were perfect, he talked up a storm and entertained you with numerous tricks.

You can just see such a bird filling your life and living room with laughter, entertainment and companionship. The more you think, the more convinced you are that you need a bird. But wait! Before you rush out and purchase the first parrot and parrot cage you can find, do a little thinking.

A SHORT HISTORY OF BIRD KEEPINGSince the beginning of recorded history birds

have been popular pets. In 1500 BC an Egyptian Queen named Hatshepsut sent out a royal expedition to search for birds and other animals for her zoo. In Roman days, having a talking parrot was a symbol of status and royalty. The Romans built elaborate aviaries to house their parrots and birds.

Alexander the Great was an avid bird lover and introduced bird keeping to Europe. He imported a variety of different birds including peacocks from India, the Alexandrine Parakeets and the Plumbhead parakeet. The lower classes did not start keeping pet birds until the industrial revolution, after which many zoos and bird societies sprung up everywhere.

WHY BIRDS ARE POPULARBirds can be wonderful companions for people

who are single or live alone. Their chatter and antics can be quite amusing. Many parrots can speak, have delightful, unique personalities, and are extremely affectionate. They can provide entertainment, com-panionship and hours of pleasure. A bird can help prevent depression and provide you with a reason to get up each morning.

In addition, parrots are beautiful creatures. Many people are attracted to their stunning feather combi-nations, which can range from bright green, to blue, red, yellow and orange. So all this sounds great, right? And now youre even more convinced that becoming

a parrot owner is right up your alley. But before you go on a shopping spree for bird-supplies..lets take a look at the reality of owning a bird.

7 THINGS TO CONSIDER FIRSTWhile birds are incredibly social, amusing and

beautiful, they are a ton of work almost more work than a small child. Not everyone has the temperament or ability to adequately care for a parrot.

Consider the following:1. Commitment: Many birds have life expectan-

cies that extend to 30-50 years. You need to be prepared to care for your bird for its entire life.

    2. Cost: Although the price of a bird may not seem astronomical (depending on the species), the birdcage and accessories can be costly.

    3. Time: Birds require a lot of time and attention. In order to keep your bird happy and friendly, you will need to interact with it on a regular basis. Be prepared to spend at least 3-4 hours a day with your bird.

    4. Health concerns: Most birds shed feather dust or dander, which can irritate people with asthma or respiratory disorders.

    5. Noise: Before investing in a bird, be sure you are willing to handle the noise. Your bird may choose to be boisterous & loud at all the wrong times.

    6. Other pets and children: Birds are not usually compatible with most other pets. So you may need to keep your bird away from other house-hold animals.

    7. Patience level: Birds are wild animals. Unlike cats and dogs, they are not genetically pro-grammed to bond with humans. As a general rule, if you take good care of your bird and treat it with love and respect, the bird will return these feelings.

Have you ever pondered what your feline is stating? I'm certain most pet managers have every once in a while. When you figure out how to read nonverbal communication you can! Give careful consideration to what her tail, ears, and hide are doing and you can read their feelings.

Your felines' tail is the most vital part to watch to figure out your felines emotions. You can figure out whether your feline is cheerful or not by examining her tail.

Tail straight up: When your feline is strolling to you and her tail is straight up it is an indication of kind disposition, this is her method for welcome you in a well disposed way.

Tail straight up and shuddering: When your feline shows this she is exceptionally upbeat to see you, however in the event that your feline is a male be wary he may be getting primed to stamp his region when you get excessively close you may mourn it.

Tail straight up yet with a snare: This is normally seen when she is seeing a new individual or when approached by an alternate feline. When you see this she is readied to be agreeable yet readied to safeguard herself also.

Tail straight up and puffed: Look out on the grounds that your feline is pestered, furious, or startled. Better provide for some opportunity to cool off before approaching her.

Tail straight up and at a slight plot: She is unsure, readied to be agreeable additionally primed to flee or if important to battle.

Tail straight out and down: This feline is primed to battle, it could be she is prepared to play yet normally you can tell which one quite rapidly. So be extremely mindful when you see this conduct.

Tail goes up and afterward hangs down: Your feline is getting primed if important to shield herself.

    Tail is tucked in: Your

feline is frightened, assuming that she isn't cornered she will presumably fled, if cornered she will likely battle.

Tail whipping: Large abate swings typically mean she is energized however more diminutive swings and quickly moving shows outrage.

Your feline's ears are additionally a method for tell-ing your feline's enthusiastic state. while not as evident as the tail when perusing both the tail and ears together you can show signs of improvement picture of how your feline feels.

Assuming that your feline's ears are back this typi-cally implies animosity, assuming that they are both up and back this normally implies a test is constantly given.

The point when your feline's ears are out she is either apprehensive or exceptionally troubled, if the ears retreat significantly more she is undermined and may respond with animosity.

There are different signs your feline may provide for you, for example, murmuring, working, and rubbing with her head of face which we all know is an indication of warmth, however rubbing the head or face is likewise her method for fortifying her bond with you by exchang-ing some of her fragrance to you. Rubbing around your legs is likewise considered fondness which obviously it is however again she is holding with you by getting her aroma on you.
