Peru is a country far away.

It has high mountains called “The Andes”.


Machu Picchu is a famous ancient city built high in

the Andes mountains.

It was built by the Inca people about

550 years ago.


The people like to wear bright colours.


You find lots of this animal in Peru.


This is Frida. She lives in the mountains.

She is standing outside her house.


This is Frida’s brother, Wilber.


This is Frida’s dad getting washed. He uses water from a spring.


This is Frida’s little brother, Brayan, playing inside the house.


Brayan and Frida like to hear their dad play his flute.


Their mum is making the dinner.


Frida’s dad is looking after the

sheep and the cows.


Brayan helps to take the animals up into the hills to find grass

to eat.


Brayan has a rest and

something to eat with his

dad.


Frida is walking to school with two of her brothers. It takes them an hour.


Some children who live in the mountains in Peru have a long difficult journey to school!

Peru has some big cities too.


Christian and Ever live in

Lima.

Lima is the biggest city in

Peru.


Christian goes to school every morning. Here he is doing his

homework.


There is no water in Christian’s

house.

He is fetching water from a tap

down the hill.


Christian and Ever carry the water back up

the hill.


This is a new water tank paid for by CAFOD. It will bring water to Christian’s house.


Christian’s dad works as a knife-sharpener.


In the afternoons Christian works

too.

His job is to shine people’s shoes.
