Transcript of Perthville Public Schoolperthville-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/content/dam/doe/...team indeed! 2019 Staff...
Dear Parents,
Term two is in full swing, teachers are beginning to write reports and students are busy completing
assessment tasks for their first semester of learning.
External Validation Complete
Our executive team completed our External Validation submission yesterday. Our submission had nine
out of fourteen areas from the school excellence framework in the EXCELLING domain. These
judgments were supported by the panel, which we were very proud of. We do amazing work at
Perthville and our whole community should be very proud of our students, staff and parents. A great
team indeed!
2019 Staff Changes
Mrs James to commence New PSL (Principal, School Leadership) Position
I was lucky enough to be successful in my application for the new Principal School Leadership position
which will commence in Week 7 this term. This position will support teaching Principals in the Bathurst,
Orange and Dubbo schools areas. The position will be three days per week until February 2020. As per
policy, an internal expression of interest has been sent out to all of our staff and a new Principal will
relieve in my absence during the three days I am away. We will keep you updated as soon as we know
about the temporary appointment of the new Principal and any other staff changes that will occur due
to this change in the executive structure.
Kindergarten News
Mrs Hardy returned today and we thank Ms Stait for taking Kindergarten during this time. Mrs Hardy
will be with us until she takes maternity leave from Term 3. As soon as a teacher has been secured for
this 6 month temporary position for Kindergarten we will inform all parents.
New Classroom Teacher Appointed
Ms Julie Foxall will be joining our staff permanently in 2020. She was centrally appointed by staffing to
take over Mr Dickson’s classroom teacher position. Ms Foxall is currently working at Eglinton School
and is very excited about her new appointment. Ms Foxall will meet our school community later this
year in preparation for her new role in 2020. We know she will love her time here at Perthville!
CWA Public Speakers – 2nd Place for Riley
Well done to Jenna, Jaya and Katie who represented our school at the CWA public Speaking
competition last Tuesday in Orange. Special congratulations to Riley Armstrong who finished second in
the year 6 competition. Riley won a cash prize and certificate and will represent at the next level in
Narromine in June. Thanks to Mrs Yordanoff for working with our speakers!

GRIP Leadership Conference
It was wonderful last week to share the GRIP leadership day with 8 of our Year 6 students. I was proud
of the way they were respectful, grateful and had excellent ideas about projects for 2019. The student
leadership team have met with Mrs James and are planning their first event for later this term which will
be PJ and Hot Milo Day! Next term will be the ‘choc box’ run and term 4 a colour fun run.
School Focus – This fortnight - Correct Uniform
As part of our Wellbeing policy we will be targeting behaviors and attitudes that reflect our school’s
culture of high expectations. We will be giving house points in a ‘fast and frequent’ manner on certain
things that we are looking for in our students each day. This fortnight we are focused on students
wearing correct school uniform. This rule comes directly from the NSW DEC positive school behaviour
code. We will be encouraging all students to wear correct winter uniform and not only display pride in
their appearance but also pride in their school. Girls should be in blue tunics with navy stockings or navy
pants. Boys should be in grey trousers and all should have black shoes. Sports days, in your new house
colour shirt. School jumpers and jackets with our logo and beanies, gloves and scarves in a navy colour
please. Well done to students that have received house points to date.
Winter Weather
It’s cold and winter is upon us. Please ensure your children come dressed appropriately whilst still being
in full winter uniform. Very important that children on early buses wear warm clothing each day
including beanies, scarves and gloves if needed. Jumper and jackets are available from the uniform shop
and Western Region sports gear should only be worn on Fridays. Rabans and tights are not part of
school uniform.
Events on School Website
Mrs Webb is endeavoring to have all events kept up to date on the school website from this week.
Permission notes will also be attached. Have a look and see, we hope it will become a go to place for all
the great things that are happening at our school.
New Administration Block Underway
Our new administration block is well underway. We have been active in requesting a new block for our
school for some time now and this year we have been successful. Obviously being the old teacher
residence, our administration building has presented some challenges. No first aid room, no disabled
access, only one toilet for all staff on site including preschool staff, a congested front office area, limited
confidentiality and limited room to work with our small learning groups are some of the many issues
that have arisen. Now, as our school has grown, we are entitled to more space. The new block has also
resulted in the electricity being underground instead of across our playground area. The projected
works will be complete in the next few weeks. Suzanne, Elaine and Mrs James will be located in the new
building. We look forward to sharing this new space with you as it enables access for all and will be
closely linked to our old admin building where we be able to spread out some of our facilities. Next on
our list is a new library and of course a hall!
Sports Shirts Have Arrived!
Last year we secured some funding to support the purchase of sports shirts in our house colours for
every student in our school. The P&C have also contributed half the funding to enable us to give, free of
charge, these shirts which should be worn on sports days. These will be distributed to each family this
week. We will certainly look flash at next week’s Athletics Carnival! Additional shirts will then be
available for purchase from the uniform shop. Check out our house captains sporting the new designs!
Next P&C Meeting – Tuesday 11th June in Library
PPS Athletics Carnival is Week 6 - 6th & 7th June
Infants Athletics Morning Only 6th June
Girls Netball Report
Well done to the girl’s netball team who defeated Bathurst South last Thursday 12-7. Coached by Ms
Glasgow and Mrs Gavey, the girls did extremely well. Information about the next round will be available
soon.
Community Grant – Please vote from 15th July and spread the word
Thanks to Allan McDaid who has completed a submission on behalf of the P&C for an upgrade to the
bottom oval. This upgrade will include levelling, landscaping and irrigation and allow the oval to be used
for community access.
From 15 July to 15 August 2019, persons 16 years & over are able to vote for the projects they want
funded in their community. The projects can be viewed and voted for through Service NSW. Each
