The trends for 2015 are spurred by the current and future ways people
are interacting with their home environment 2015 will largely be moved
forward by the social ethical and tech trends that are pertinent in our
daily lives The research methodology for finding the trends was to find
and monitor tastemakers in the industry and find what people are
genuinely being pulled towards through social listening Included are
statistics that add a realistic base to the current economy and feelings
within the US
ELEVATED ECO
Eco-friendly products no longer need to scream ldquoECO - FRIENDLYrdquo They are coming into a stage of refinement
and their design is becoming less obviously about the environment and more about good quality design Not
only are the products looking better but consumers are becoming more educated on key eco issues including
chemicals sustainability and resources

02 NEW SUCCULENT
OVERVIEW
The succulent has been a staple in design for the last few years It seems everyone has taken a terrarium class or has been
gifted an air plant by their pals The greening-up of the home is an ever-green trend but the ways in which it is done are
changing Taking cues from external trends such as urban farming and drought resistant plants we are now getting to expand
the beautiful ways in which our home looks and gives back
FRUIT TREES
Urban farming is a massive trend but not
very sustainable for most city apartment
dweller Small scale and beautiful fruit
trees are going to be a great step for
people who want a beautiful plant but
also is providing organic food for their
table Interior designer Kelly Wearstler
was recently seen using citrus as a
design element on her Instagram
account
CACTUS
Interior designer Tessa Neustadt who is
known for her incorporation of plants into
her designs has started using cactus in
many of her interior looks They add a
fresh look and texture to a room and are
a fresh feel and look from the elegant
succulent
PINEAPPLES
Fruits in general are becoming interior
design staples but in particular the
pineapple is having a massive moment
The next step will be people growing
these quirky fruits in their home It is
easy to grow a real pineapple or some
people may opt for their ridiculously
cute yet inedible counterpart the mini
pineapple plant
RECOMMENDATION
Switch out a few succulents for
one of these newer plants There
is more variety of these plants
and it is easy to find one that
matches your personal tastes
and interior style

03 INVESTMENT PIECES
OVERVIEW
We are starting to live in a more nomadic world where the most constant thing year to year is the information that gets
transferred from one cell phone to another Apartment rentals are on the rise city living is preferable and as a society we
are becoming more transient How can people make a small space that they may not be in long feel like home People
are no longer investing in large pieces of furniture and flooring Instead they are investing in small personal accessories
that are easily transportable
CRAFT SHOPS amp FAIRS
The crafts movement is massive and the
handmade movement is not going
anywhere People are valuing quality
and the story behind the products they
are buying This trend can easily be
seen by the success of craft shows such
as the recent West Coast Craft Fair
STATEMENT PIECES
Personal and intimate statement pieces
that hold a lot of personal values are
popping up around peoplersquos homes It is
not just about having the coolest object
but having an object worth lugging
around from apartment to apartment
Vintage and one of a kind pieces are
making a huge splash on peoplersquos
mantel places
INVESTED BEAUTY
Paying $100 for a vase as an underpaid
college student does not seem like a far
reach anymore There is a trend towards
buying high quality investment pieces
that people can take with them wherever
and have for a long time Emphasis is
being placed on materials quality of
make and origin story
RECOMMENDATION
Invest in a few high-quality
pieces that really speak to the
individual instead of a trend
This will ensure a good
investment and prolonged use

The SpringSummer 2015 fashion shows were a signal to the rest of the design community that there is a large
shift happening on the runways The most notable show of the season was the Chanel Ready to Wear collection
that featured a fashionable womenrsquos rights protest complete with signs and chants A clear message was sent

01 FEMININE PALETTE
OVERVIEW
All over the runways we saw clear references to the late 60rsquos early 70rsquos fashion trends This era was filled with natural tones
feminine pinks and dusted colors The menswear-inspired looks that had been ruling the runway took a back seat to more
flowing caftans macrame accents and sumptuous evening gowns Interior design is taking direct reference to the new
feminine tone through colors metals and materials
FEMININE FLORALS
Geometric and jagged shapes still have
a place in the new trend but the
showstopper is really the return to
florals Dust off those beautiful vases
and get ready to sprinkle your house in
peonies roses and orchids Design
Sponge showcases a beautiful floral
arrangement highlighting an ultra
feminine palette
RETURN TO GOLD
Gold is making a comeback in home
decor Nickel and stainless steel have
been the main colors of choice
especially in the kitchen and bathroom
Start looking for a return to gold faucets
and accents to warm up the space
Cereal magazine showcases beautiful
and delicate gold pendant
MUTED PALETTE
A muted almost dusty palette is taking
over the bright neons of last year The
70rsquos burnt umbers and siennas are
making a solid return They can start to
be seen in accent choices Design
Sponge shows off lovely muted shades
of yellow and blue
RECOMMENDATION
Replace past seasons neonrsquos
with a new feminine pallet It is
easy to start small with accent
pillows and fresh floral
arrangements

02 LUSH TEXTILES
OVERVIEW
Textiles are taking a feminine and lush turn this year They are not just staying one dimensional either there is a large
emphasis on different textures and materials being used They are going from light and silky to bold and velvety The styling of
textiles is also changing The minimal look is being replaced by lush layers and warmth The use of natural materials like
leather and cowhide are adding additional interest to furniture and accessories
LOVELY LAYERS
Layering creates a sense of comfort and
softness There is nothing quite like
laying back on a bed full of pillows with
drapes surrounding you and a cozy
throw to pull over Sibella Court capture
this trend on her Instagram feed
TEXTURE VELVET amp
CORDUROY
Soft feminine sexy Thatrsquos the name of
the game when it comes to the new

Chairs becoming additionally inviting
when covered in a dark velvet finish
NATURAL MATERIALS
Soft brown and tan leathers are
popping up in many places They are
being used in unusual ways such as
around vases and planters The leather
is softening hard materials and playing
with the mixture of textures and looks
RECOMMENDATION
This trend is all about addition
not subtraction Add to what you

OVERVIEW
Not many people change their furniture with the seasons they tend to be investment pieces The latest trend goes
against the current mood of industrial straight and hard completely flipping it on its head The newest shapes for
furniture are soft feminine and plush They mimic the curves of a womanrsquos body and take reference from the 60rsquos
furniture styles

with perfect folds lining the entire piece
She has an eye for trends and loved this
chair so much she posted it twice
VINTAGE REFOUND
So many beautiful and rounded pieces
of furniture were produced in past
decades Homestead Seattle curates an
amazing stock of vintage items that are
perfectly on trend and look like they
could have been made today
HOUSE OF HONEY
There are not many designers that can
mix fabrics shapes and silhouettes quite
like House of Honey Their signature
style pulls from the present and the past
to make them a design store not to be
messed with
RECOMMENDATION
Adding in one accent chair that is
in this new style can completely
shift the dynamics of a room Be
careful that there are elements
that tie older trends in with the
newer ones AUTHORITIES

02 NEW SUCCULENT
OVERVIEW
The succulent has been a staple in design for the last few years It seems everyone has taken a terrarium class or has been
gifted an air plant by their pals The greening-up of the home is an ever-green trend but the ways in which it is done are
changing Taking cues from external trends such as urban farming and drought resistant plants we are now getting to expand
the beautiful ways in which our home looks and gives back
FRUIT TREES
Urban farming is a massive trend but not
very sustainable for most city apartment
dweller Small scale and beautiful fruit
trees are going to be a great step for
people who want a beautiful plant but
also is providing organic food for their
table Interior designer Kelly Wearstler
was recently seen using citrus as a
design element on her Instagram
account
CACTUS
Interior designer Tessa Neustadt who is
known for her incorporation of plants into
her designs has started using cactus in
many of her interior looks They add a
fresh look and texture to a room and are
a fresh feel and look from the elegant
succulent
PINEAPPLES
Fruits in general are becoming interior
design staples but in particular the
pineapple is having a massive moment
The next step will be people growing
these quirky fruits in their home It is
easy to grow a real pineapple or some
people may opt for their ridiculously
cute yet inedible counterpart the mini
pineapple plant
RECOMMENDATION
Switch out a few succulents for
one of these newer plants There
is more variety of these plants
and it is easy to find one that
matches your personal tastes
and interior style

being placed on materials quality of
make and origin story

against the current mood of industrial straight and hard completely flipping it on its head The newest shapes for
furniture are soft feminine and plush They mimic the curves of a womanrsquos body and take reference from the 60rsquos
furniture styles

HOUSE OF HONEY
There are not many designers that can
mix fabrics shapes and silhouettes quite
like House of Honey Their signature
style pulls from the present and the past
to make them a design store not to be
messed with
RECOMMENDATION
Adding in one accent chair that is
in this new style can completely
shift the dynamics of a room Be
careful that there are elements
that tie older trends in with the
newer ones AUTHORITIES

02 NEW SUCCULENT
OVERVIEW
The succulent has been a staple in design for the last few years It seems everyone has taken a terrarium class or has been
gifted an air plant by their pals The greening-up of the home is an ever-green trend but the ways in which it is done are
changing Taking cues from external trends such as urban farming and drought resistant plants we are now getting to expand
the beautiful ways in which our home looks and gives back
FRUIT TREES
Urban farming is a massive trend but not
very sustainable for most city apartment
dweller Small scale and beautiful fruit
trees are going to be a great step for
people who want a beautiful plant but
also is providing organic food for their
table Interior designer Kelly Wearstler
was recently seen using citrus as a
design element on her Instagram
account
CACTUS
Interior designer Tessa Neustadt who is
known for her incorporation of plants into
her designs has started using cactus in
many of her interior looks They add a
fresh look and texture to a room and are
a fresh feel and look from the elegant
succulent
PINEAPPLES
Fruits in general are becoming interior
design staples but in particular the
pineapple is having a massive moment
The next step will be people growing
these quirky fruits in their home It is
easy to grow a real pineapple or some
people may opt for their ridiculously
cute yet inedible counterpart the mini
pineapple plant
RECOMMENDATION
Switch out a few succulents for
one of these newer plants There
is more variety of these plants
and it is easy to find one that
matches your personal tastes
and interior style

that are easily transportable
CRAFT SHOPS amp FAIRS

handmade movement is not going
anywhere People are valuing quality
and the story behind the products they
are buying This trend can easily be
seen by the success of craft shows such
as the recent West Coast Craft Fair

that hold a lot of personal values are
popping up around peoplersquos homes It is
not just about having the coolest object

INVESTED BEAUTY
Paying $100 for a vase as an underpaid
college student does not seem like a far
reach anymore There is a trend towards
buying high quality investment pieces

being placed on materials quality of
make and origin story

OVERVIEW
All over the runways we saw clear references to the late 60rsquos early 70rsquos fashion trends This era was filled with natural tones
feminine pinks and dusted colors The menswear-inspired looks that had been ruling the runway took a back seat to more
flowing caftans macrame accents and sumptuous evening gowns Interior design is taking direct reference to the new
feminine tone through colors metals and materials
FEMININE FLORALS
Geometric and jagged shapes still have
a place in the new trend but the
showstopper is really the return to
florals Dust off those beautiful vases
and get ready to sprinkle your house in
peonies roses and orchids Design
Sponge showcases a beautiful floral
arrangement highlighting an ultra

RETURN TO GOLD
Gold is making a comeback in home

been the main colors of choice
especially in the kitchen and bathroom
Start looking for a return to gold faucets
and accents to warm up the space

A muted almost dusty palette is taking
over the bright neons of last year The
70rsquos burnt umbers and siennas are
making a solid return They can start to
be seen in accent choices Design

01 FEMININE PALETTE
OVERVIEW
All over the runways we saw clear references to the late 60rsquos early 70rsquos fashion trends This era was filled with natural tones
feminine pinks and dusted colors The menswear-inspired looks that had been ruling the runway took a back seat to more
flowing caftans macrame accents and sumptuous evening gowns Interior design is taking direct reference to the new
feminine tone through colors metals and materials
FEMININE FLORALS
Geometric and jagged shapes still have
a place in the new trend but the
showstopper is really the return to
florals Dust off those beautiful vases
and get ready to sprinkle your house in
peonies roses and orchids Design
Sponge showcases a beautiful floral
arrangement highlighting an ultra
feminine palette
RETURN TO GOLD
Gold is making a comeback in home
decor Nickel and stainless steel have
been the main colors of choice
especially in the kitchen and bathroom
Start looking for a return to gold faucets
and accents to warm up the space
Cereal magazine showcases beautiful
and delicate gold pendant
MUTED PALETTE
A muted almost dusty palette is taking
over the bright neons of last year The
70rsquos burnt umbers and siennas are
making a solid return They can start to
be seen in accent choices Design
Sponge shows off lovely muted shades
of yellow and blue
RECOMMENDATION
Replace past seasons neonrsquos
with a new feminine pallet It is
easy to start small with accent
pillows and fresh floral
arrangements
