Getting AroundOn Foot Walking is the best way to see all of Barcelona’s sights and to get around with ease (as long as you wear comfortable shoes!); to walk the length of Las Ramblas enjoying its sights and sounds takes at least an hour.

Metro & TramsBarcelona has a dense metro network and the trains run with a high frequency, so you don’t have to worry about schedules. Most of the popular sights to visit are within walking distance from a metro or tram stop. The gaps left by the metro are covered by the trams.

BusBuses are the most practical way of reaching the sights that are further away from the main areas of the city, such as Parc Güell. They are air-conditioned single-deckers and offer a comfortable ride, but traffic can often slow your journey time.

TrainThe FGC is the Catalan railroad company that runs trains to the suburbs. They go along the Costa Brava until they reach Blanes 50km north of Barcelona.

They also go to the airport and along the coast towards the south to Tarragona via Castelldefels and Sitges. Trains to the northwest pass the Monastery of Montserrat on their way. All lines meet in Barcelona, where the trains run underground like the metro and are integrated in the local transport network. You won’t have difficulties here, finding your way is as easy as in the metro. Sometimes there are subterranean connections between metro stops and FGC stops.

Private Coach HireIf you prefer your group not to use public transport during their whole stay and want to visit several attractions across the city of Barcelona, a private coach can be hired for a half day (5 hours) from £6.00 per person or full day (8 hours) from £8.50 per person (based on a group size of 35). Other group sizes can be quoted for on request.
