Curious about the current job outlook and annual salary for trainers? According to the Bureau of Labor “Employment of fitness and instructors is projected to grow 13% from 2012 to 2022, which is about as fast as the average for all occupations. Meaning obesity is on the rise in our country, so trainers can feel a huge amount of security in their jobs.

Location in the US where most of these jobs are located:

The states that have a continuous demand for personal trainer are the cities that have the biggest population therefore, New York, California, Florida, and Texas.

The only problem is that those cities already have an abundance of personal trainers. The field can be very competitive. The point isn’t to find areas of high demand. The point is to find areas with job openings for personal trainers. So, when you move into a populated city, it is best to stay on the outer fringe of the urban area. Suburbs usually have a mobile population with plenty of disposable income.

Fun Fact: In the year of 2012 , a total of more than 150 thousand fitness & health clubs were in operation worldwide, of which about 30.5 thousand are located in the United States. These clubs in the U.S. had about 50 million members. Globally around 130 million people were members of a health/fitness club.

Possible Pro’s: The personal trainer has endless

opportunities such as working at a private health club, commercial health club community wellness center, physical therapy clinics, retirement/ senior centers.

Each has perks and benefits with working with their facility.

Regular amount of potential clients depending on location

Possible Con’s: Working for a commercial company can

sometimes seem to be all about the “bottom dollar”, rather than truly being invested in the client or trainer.

Commercial clubs take about 40%-60% of the session fee, which is OUTRAGEOUS!!

Depending on where you’re training at it can be very difficult to enlist people in a training program because of the location.
