This course provides a comprehensive review of practical periodontal surgical techniques that can immediately be put into practice. Attendees will learn theory and receive hands-on experience performing the most common procedures being referred out to specialists. Instrumentation will be reviewed and used to form a basic periodontal surgical kit that contains all instruments needed to get started in practice. Knowledge obtained from this course will also enhance general oral surgical skills including fl ap design, suturing, and managing complications.

Learning objectives

• properly diagnose issues that would benefi t from periodontal surgery • understand the principles of periodontal surgical fl ap design and suturing• obtain basic profi ency in surgical treatment of deep pockets, periodontal bone defects, gingival recessions and crown-lengthening • learn principles of managing complications• obtain hands-on practice with fl ap design and suturing the most common periodontal procedures
