The Sulca Brush is a simple and inexpensive oral aid for everyone. The Sulca Brush is designed to be used in a tracking motion of the gingival margin line, it is an adjunct to tooth brushing, flossing and oral rinses. Significant results can be noticed in those patients using the Sulca Brush with the correct technique. Marginal plaque is controlled resulting in less associated calculus, inflammation, tooth sensitivity and prevention of root caries. As the Sulca Brush is swept along the gingival margins, one side of the brush removes the plaque on the tooth which will allow fluoride to penetrate the tooth tubles. The removal of marginal plaque will allow for the tooth to be remineralized resulting in reducing sensitivity levels and prevention of cervical caries. The sweeping motion can create some sensitivity but over time the tooth sensitivity threshold is increased by regular stimulation. The tip of the brush goes slightly subgingival removing plaque and stimulating the free gingival margin resulting in the tissue changing to become more firm and tight to the tooth. Patients are motivated by understanding the progression of periodontal pocket formation and what their own periodontal status is. When a patient understands how the dental professional gauges their oral health status with the periodontal probing records it will motivate them to improve their probing depths for their next dental appointment. It is important that dental patients feel they are a part of a team effort to improve and care for their oral health. Significant periodon- tal improvements happen when patients take responsibility for their own oral health and contribute with home care efforts. People are empowered when given knowledge and it is the dental professional’s responsibility to educate, instruct and introduce the patient with home care aids to assist them with their particular needs and meet their oral health status goals.

Significant periodon-tal improvements happen when patients take responsibility for their own oral health and contribute with home care efforts. People are empowered when given knowledge and it is the dental professional’s responsibility to educate, instruct and introduce the patient with home care aids to assist them with their particular needs and meet their oral health status goals.
