Summer, 2017

Dear Residents and Friends of the Community,

Good evening and welcome to the Bernards Township Department of Parks and Recreation’s 30th

season of Plays in the Park.

So many of you enjoy and look forward to the plays year after year. I am excited that the

Township brings this tradition free to the public for all to enjoy. Bernards Township proudly spon-

sors this event and substantially subsidizes the budget because we recognize the importance of

keeping performing arts alive. It is truly wonderful that these productions are here, under the

stars, in Pleasant Valley Park.

July is Parks and Recreation Month. Bernards Township offers many opportunities to enjoy

family outings such as Plays In The Park. Please join us as we celebrate… details may be found on

pages 11-12 of this playbill. You can stay current on all our special events by visiting our website at

www.bernards.org. There you will find information on the wide variety of programs we offer.

Now sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

See you in the parks,

Jennifer Gander Director, Parks and Recreation

WHO’S WHO PRODUCTION

Hank Barre (Producer) has performed with many area theater companies including Summit Playhouse, Chatham Playhouse, Circle Players, and The Barn Theater. He has enjoyed roles as varied as Big Daddy, King Lear, and Grandpa in You Can’t Take it With You. He has performed, directed and produced with Trilogy Repertory in Basking Ridge for more than 35 years

Paul Bettys (Director) is directing for the first time for Trilogy. Past shows he has directed include Moon Over Buffalo, Good Doctor, Snow White and the Seven Fairy Godmothers. He will be directing Plaza Suite this fall. He has also performed in many shows over the years including Noises Off (Lloyd), All My Sons (Chris Keller), The Merchant of Venice (Bassanio), in the Park (Paul Bratter) and Drop Dead (Chazz/Drools – 2009 Perry Award) to name a few. He would like to thank his family and friends for their continued support, and this cast and crew for all their hard work and dedication to this production. As always, this show is dedicated to Poppa who is watching from the “cheap seats”.

Matt Marino (Stage Manager) is thankful to have had the opportunity to stage manage his second Trilogy show, his first being last summer’s production of The Rainmaker. Matt’s previous onstage credits include Scanlon in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Brakenbury in Richard III, Meeker in Inherit the Wind, Franklin D. Roosevelt in Annie, Bjorn in Snow White and the Seven Fairy Godmothers, and various roles in King Lear and Macbeth. Matt also has served as a background actor on several television shows, including Homeland, Orange is the New Black, Mr. Robot, and Law & Order: SVU. In addition, Matt is on the Trilogy board of di-rectors and teaches high school English. This is a very talented cast and crew, and they all should be proud of their great work. Break legs, all!

Regina Barletta (Props) is a graphic designer and lifelong theater buff. This is her third year working backstage at Trilogy. Best wishes to the cast for another great show. This is dedicated to you, Val, hope you're watching from above.

WHO’S WHO CAST

Hank Barre (Captain) has performed with many area theater companies including Summit Playhouse, Chatham Playhouse, Circle Players, and The Barn Theater. He has enjoyed roles as varied as Big Daddy, King Lear, and Grandpa in You Can’t Take it With You. He has performed, directed and produced with Trilogy Repertory in Basking Ridge for more than 35 years. Adam Barr (Feste), mild-mannered director of a golf museum by day, is appearing in his first Trilogy production. After showing early promise annoying guests at family parties, he embarked on a school and amateur theater career that has included Kiss Me Kate (Second Gangster), South Pacific (Emile De Becque), Yeoman of the Guard (Lord Cholmondley), Iolanthe (Mountararat) and Mame (Beau). Adam would like to thank his family for their unflagging support and the cast and crew of Twelfth Night for a fantastic theatrical journey. Peter Curley (Orsino) is delighted to be back on stage at Trilogy Repertory, having previously appeared in productions of The Rainmaker (File), Mary Poppins (Mr. Northbrook), Play On (Billy), King Lear (Oswald), Inherit the Wind (Tom Davenport), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Peter Quince), Macbeth (Lennox), You Can't Take it With You (Tony Kirby), As You Like It (LaBeau), The Taming of the Shrew (Trainio) and Twelfth Night (Sir Andrew). Thanks to Paul, Hank, Matt and a great cast and crew! Elizabeth Dreitlein (Curio, Officer) is excited to be in her first Shakespeare production with Plays in the Park. Elizabeth is a rising senior at New Providence High School. When she is not on stage, Elizabeth can be found reading, and singing in various choirs. She would like to thank the cast, crew, and director for making this production possible. She hopes you enjoy this amazing show! Chris Gibbs (Malvolio) first appeared on stage in 1961. Since then he has appeared in over 60 plays, musicals, operas and films in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and New Jersey. Recently: The Lion in Winter, The Crucible, To Kill a Mockingbird, Judgment at Nuremberg, The Mousetrap, Noises Off, The Ice Breaker, Our Town, Rumors, Lend Me a Tenor, Much Ado About Nothing, Mauritius, Sherlock Holmes, The Final Adventure, August: Osage County, Other People’s Money, Inherit the Wind, Trying, The Second Mrs. Wilson, Stage Kiss, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Proof, The Trip to Bountiful, Measure for Measure. Alicia Hayes (Fabian) is so excited for her first Shakespeare in the Park play! Playing the part of Fabian is a full-circle moment for her. She auditioned for the part in college and did not receive it, but it resulted in one of the most formative conversations with her theatre professor about auditions, rejection, and life. She is grateful for that moment as well as this one. Some of her other favorite stage credits include Older Molly (Jake's Women, Studio Playhouse), Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Fairy Godmothers, Studio Playhouse), Miss Maudie (To Kill a Mockingbird, Pax Amicus Castle), and Emily (Our Town, Eastern University. Thank you to Paul Bettys and Trilogy Repertory for this opportunity. Thanks also to her supportive friends, family, and church community group. Enjoy the show!! Juliet Hommes (Viola) is absolutely thrilled to return to the Trilogy stage for her 5th production. Favorite roles include Portia in The Merchant of Venice, Goneril in King Lear, and Katherina in The Taming of the Shrew. Clearly, she despises Shakespeare. When not cross-dressing for the theatre, she enjoys spending time with her husband Patrick, and snuggling with NPH (their son, not the actor). Much love and thanks to the cast and crew, especially PB. For Mom and Bubby.

WHO’S WHO, CAST, continued

Michael Jay (Sebastian) has recently performed in King Charles III (Prince Harry), Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Spike), Death of a Salesman (Happy Loman), Spamalot (Sir Lancelot), You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Linus), Romeo and Juliet (Tybalt). TV/Film: “Smash,” “Louie,” Noah, Delivery Man, The Dark Knight Rises. Endless love and thanks to the cast and crew.

Aaron Kellner (Sir Andrew Aguecheek) is excited (and nervous) to return to the stage after a 15-year absence. His previous stage credits include Orpheus in Metamorphoses, Grandpa in The Grapes of Wrath, Lawrence in Home Free!, Slender in The Merry Wives of Windsor, the March Hare & Humpty Dumpty in Alice in Wonderland, and Abel in The Serpent. He has also had the pleasure of directing productions of Pterodactyls, Home Free!, and Extremities. Between September and June each year, you will find him "directing" and "performing" for a captive audience of students in his 3rd grade classroom at the Pingry School in Short Hills.

Kelly Maizenaski (Maria) most recently appeared as Catherine in Proof. A member of Alliance Repertory Theatre, Kelly has appeared in Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche, From Up Here, Five Flights, The Drunken City, Something in the Air, Still Life, US Drag and Three Prince Charmings. NYC: Sex, Relationships & Some-times Love. Additional Credits: Extremities, Merchant of Venice, Richard III, King Lear, Agnes of God, The (Somewhat) True Tale of Robin Hood. Love to my eternally supportive family & friends.

Matt Marino (Priest) is thankful to have had the opportunity to stage manage his second Trilogy show, his first being last summer’s production of The Rainmaker. Matt’s previous onstage credits include Scanlon in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Brakenbury in Richard III, Meeker in Inherit the Wind, Franklin D. Roosevelt in An-nie, Bjorn in Snow White and the Seven Fairy Godmothers, and various roles in King Lear and Macbeth. Matt also has served as a background actor on several television shows, including Homeland, Orange is the New Black, Mr. Robot, and Law & Order: SVU. In addition, Matt is on the Trilogy board and teaches high school English. This is a very talented cast and crew, and they all should be proud of their great work. Break legs, all!

Emily Miller (Olivia) is our resident dramaturgist and is excited to be a part of Shakespeare in the Park again, last seen here playing Lady Anne in Richard III. Some of her favorite roles include The Importance of Being Earnest (Cecily), Moon Over Buffalo (Roz), King Charles III (Jess) and Too Big (Lizzie) a devised theatre piece she helped create about the student loan debt crisis. She also stars in the web series Sidetrack. Emily is a proud grad-uate of Drew University and has studied Shakespeare in London, so she better be good at this.

Tim Murphy (Sir Toby Belch) is happy to be back with Trilogy playing one his favorite Shakespearean characters. Thanks to director Paul Bettys for assembling a truly great cast and crew. And, of course, thanks to Jaye and Henri for keeping this great program going.

Elizabeth Sanchez Quinones (Valentine, Officer) previously played Sheila in Jake’s Women and Cassandra in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at Studio Players in Montclair. She also has experience costuming the children’s show, The Frog Princess and staged managed The Assembled Parties. She would like to thank the cast for being so much fun to work with and great to learn from and is very grateful for Paul’s awesome direction. She is very excited to make her Shakespearean debut with Trilogy Repertory!

Kevin Vislocky (Antonio) is happy to be making his Trilogy Repertory debut. Prior Shakespeare productions include: Much Ado About Nothing (Benedick, Don John), Macbeth (Macbeth, Banquo), Hamlet (Claudius, Laertes) and Romeo and Juliet (Romeo). Other favorite performances include: Picasso at the Lapin Agile (Picasso), Taking Sides (Major Arnold), Laughter on the 23rd Floor (Lucas), Private Lives (Elyot), Conversations With My Father (Charlie), Mass Appeal (Mark), Burn This (Pale), Biloxi Blues (Sgt. Toomey), Time Stands Still (James), and Amadeus (Mozart). Kevin would like to thank Paul for his direction and the opportunity to work with such a talented group of people. Hope you enjoy the performance.
