Providing a road map for strategy implementation:Country Strategies

• A strategic review of how WFP should position itself in a given country tocontribute to national hunger solutions - a vision and prioritization of WFP’sactivities in a country

The Country Strategy process has so far proven to:

• Enhance focus and prioritization and reduction of overlap between CountryOffice activities;

• Work as an instrument for transitioning from food aid to food assistance;• Enhance recognition and credibility of WFP amongst stakeholders at

At framework and strategy level:• Risk Management is an integral part of our performance management system

as it relies on setting of objectives• Risk management is a key principle of the internal control framework• Risk are analysed at contextual, programmatic and institutional levels

At operational level:• Risks identified across various functional areas linked to WFP’s five

management dimensions from the Wheel for Performance

At management and decision making level:• Strong senior management engagement - constitution of Executive

Management Council to guide and direct risk management for WFP;• Assigning accountability for management of risks (mitigation actions

implementation)• Risk coordination across WFP (security, emergency preparedness and

Internal Controls)

Integrating results and risks: achieving accountability
