water treatment than negative attitudes• Hence, water treatment strategies should

be based on positive attitudes. • Preferred attributes of water should be

used to promote water treatment.• Water treatment should be promoted as

part of a cluster of health and hygienebehavior.

• Emphasize “staying healthy” rather than preventing disease, unless there is a severethreat.
