Introduction

Ever since the beginning of Rock, guitarists have been using Pentatonic Scales and Modes for creating melodic phrases and licks. To this day only a small percentage of guitarists are using Pentatonics for blinding speed runs. I think it's because 1) it requires extreme finger stretching in the upper register, and 2) guitarists aren't familiar with the techniques.

Some of the greats who have used Pentatonics in some of the ways I'm going to teach you are guitarists like Paul Gilbert and Satch. Funny thing is it's not that difficult once mastered. You don't have to slave to keep your speed like with shredding. Also, I want to say that playing Pentatonics with legato speed sounds very rockin'. That's why this method is going to be a blast.

Note: I've also included Pentatonic tricks throughout and basics toward the end.



I can't emphasize this enough. If you're a beginner or you don't warm up properly for intense finger stretching, you may be injured. Use this method at your own risk!
