Green Acres Foundation provides affordable housing and quality services responsive to the needs of clients. From Your Manager, Residency & Service Agreement March 2018 Pemmican News Roger Hacior Over the past 3 months, we have been upgrading our lighting throughout the lodge with new LED fixtures and bulbs. The electricians have been here for a long time now but we can see the end is near, as this project could quite possibly be completed this month. This upgrade will enhance all areas in the lodge and at the same time we will reduce our energy costs. From an environmental standpoint, this will help us do our part in the reduction of energy consumption and waste. This is the wave of the future and we want to be one of the leaders in this area. We have also completed the installation of new walk-in shower stalls in some of our rooms in the west wing. This project will continue into the Spring, with 34 rooms being done in total. There has been some noise at times with the hammering and cutting needed; thank you for your patience during this time. Looking past March, I would like to let you know of our free income tax clinic being held on April 3. There will be a sign-up sheet posted. This is limited to the first 15 residents that sign up. Thanks everyone! 10.2 Damage to Premises: The Resident agrees to maintain their Suite in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. The Resident shall ensure that the Suite remains clear of clutter that would impede mobility or be deemed a fire hazard. The Foundation reserves the right to inspect the Suite at any time upon giving the Resident 24 hoursnotice, or immediately if an emergency exists and entry by the Foundation is necessary to protect life or property. The Resident shall abide by any directive from the Foundation to clear clutter. The Resident further agrees to reimburse the Foundation for any loss of, or damage to the Foundation property, inside or outside, caused by the Resident or the Resident s guests or invitees, excluding normal wear and tear.

March! That means spring is around the corner. As is usual here at this time of year, the weather is always changing. One day in February, we had a beautifully sunny spring day; the next day as I looked out of the window I saw nothing but freezing grey fog.

“March is a month of considerable frustration. It is so near to spring and yet across a great deal of the country, the weather is still so violent and changeable that outdoor activity in our yards seems light years away.” Thalassa Cruso March 11 – Daylight saving time begins

March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day

March 20 – First day of spring

March 30 – Good Friday

If you have any comments or just want to chat, please stop by the kitchen – we would love to hear from you!

Just a reminder this is still March and with the occasional warm day, the parking lot is still a treacherous and slippery area. So please be careful, “Spring is coming”.

Your friendly maintenance man,

Will

50/50 Draw Congratulations to Fatima, one of our staff members. She won $18.50 at the 50/50 draw in February. The next 50/50 draw will be on Friday, March 2 at 11:30 in the dining room.
