Aims
• Develop, coordinate & coach Pembrokeshire County Swimming through implementation of training programme
• Development of coaches & swimmers within Pembrokeshire Aquatics/Swimming Pathway
• Consultation with Swim Wales & coaches• Advise on development, best practice &
imaginative delivery of school swimming & Learn-to-Swim
• Provide technical knowledge and expertise to staff

Season 2009/2010 Development Progress
• Employment of Swimming Coordinator developing aquatic activities in Haverfordwest & Milford Haven
• First full season of 16 ½ hr centralised performance program
• Continuation of Skills & Potential Squad• Selection Policy Reviewed, improved & renewed• Performance Land training programme• Pre-planned approach to Welsh level competitions• Achievement of LA Dragonmark• Creation of website• Already National Qualifying swimmers
Ambitions for 2010/2011 Season
No change in direction
• Communication strategy targeting key dates with key groups aimed to improve communication links
• Support quality teaching, coaching & management through developing a training & education partnership between clubs & local authority
• ‘Process-driven, Training Orientated’ Skills, Potential & Performance Squad Competition (UK based to get used to travelling process, staying away from home & parents overnight)
• Continued coordinated approach to 3 key County Competitions per year
• Achievement of Performance Club Dragonmark Award
Dragonmark Development Plan
• Development plan to for Pembrokeshire County Swimming to lead the way in competitive swimming in Pembrokeshire
• Will take into account development club development plans as agreed with Swim Wales swimming development officer & swimming development coach.
• To cover 4 areas:– Club management– Performance Pathway– Club Swimming– Learn-to-Swim
Club Management
Club Management• To develop a strong club, which is affiliated to the governing body.• To increase numbers in development clubs• Maintain club funds to provide for training, transport, equipment and social activities.• Attain and Maintain Swim Wales Dragon Mark Accreditation for Performance Club• Maintain Swim Wales Dragon Mark Accreditation for Local Authority • Attain and Maintain Swim Wales Dragon Mark Accreditation for Development Club • Develop social opportunities for Pembrokeshire team swimmers • Implementation and consolidation of entry for competition protocol• Inclusion, development and updating of LA Aquatics Plan • Encourage stakeholders in the development of Pembrokeshire County Swimming • Review of Water Management Plan in each centre
Performance Pathway
Performance Pathway• To deliver the LTAD Performance requirement.• Increase age profile of current performance squad & ensure progress pathway • To take part in appropriate & innovative competition calendar focusing on Welsh
standard and above events • To ensure development opportunities for competitive swimmers • To conduct appraisals of swimmers to monitor performance and development.• Awareness and understanding of performance pathway• Development of comprehensive gym program
Club Swimming & Learn-to-Swim
Club Swimming• To provide the correct pathways in line with Long Term Athlete Development.• To provide swimmers of suitable ability and training standard• To provide swimmers with a suitable standard of coaching• Awareness of development pathway• Consolidation of current gym program (junior fit n active)
Learn-to-Swim• Increase numbers in Learn to Swim Programme• Increase efficient use of Pool time and space• Increase quality of teaching in stages 5+
