Zero Fees for Under 13s
Most general practices now offer zero fee visits for children
under 13. To find out more ask your general practice team. You'll no longer need to pay the $5 charge for each item of prescription
medicine for under 13’s, though other charges may apply. To find our more, check with your pharmacist. Your local DHB will
ensure that children under 13 can access zero fee after hours care and prescription medicines in your area. After hours
services are designed for urgent visits when the child's regular
practice is closed and where the child needs to be seen before the practice opens again. Ask your
general practice or pharmacist where to find these services.
Important Reminder School starts at 8:55 am—Please make
sure your child/children are at school on time.
You must ring or txt in to the office if your child is absent - If you txt into the
office please state the reason for your child's absence. Phone 4370931 or 0274370932
Greetings Week two nearly over. Once again busy with swimming. Make sure your child has their togs and towels when their class is swimming. We invest a lot of money in this. Like reading and maths this is a compulsory subject. If your child is unwell or there is another reason they can’t participate
please send a note with your child.
Device/Screen-time Has your child become prone to throwing big tantrums around asking them to get off a device or saying no to going on a device. The latest research shows that too much screen time acts on the brain the same way drugs do. Your child is likely suffering from withdrawal symptoms when you take it off them or stop them from getting their fix. (Device = tablet, phone, computer, TV) Here are 9 warning signs of screen media addiction: 1. Unsuccessful Control: It is hard for my child to stop using screen media. 2. Loss of Interest: Screen media is the only thing that seems to motivate my child. 3. Preoccupation: Screen media is all my child seems to think about. 4. Psychosocial Consequences: My child’s screen media use interferes with family activities. 5. Serious Problems Due to Use: My child’s screen media use causes problems for the family. 6. Withdrawal: My child becomes frustrated when he/she cannot use screen media. 7. Tolerance: The amount of time my child wants to use screen media keeps increasing. 8. Deception: My child sneaks using screen media. Escape/Relieve Mood: When my child has had a bad day, screen media seems to be the only thing that help him/her feel better. Some sites you might want to look at https://www.forbes.com/sites/alicegwalton/2018/04/16/how-too-much-screen-time-affects-kids-bodies-and-brains/ https://www.todaysparent.com/family/family-health/9-signs-of-screen-addiction-in-kids/ We suggest limiting screen time and putting your own device down when you are with your children. Be a role model. Concerns and complaints Make sure you talk to us early if you have any arising issues with something happening at school. Have a good weekend Regards Brent and Staff
