This week’s spotlight shines brightly on Timbreanna
Hudson. Timbreanna
loves basketball and has been playing for the past 8 years; she is the
secretary of the Senior class and a member of FCA and Dream Girls. Recently, she represent-
ed the Senior class on the field at Homecom-
ing. Her most memorable moment so far from PHS is
the bus ride back from Brooks County after the team had gone 23 and 0! Her plans after high school are to attend St. Thomas University in Miami to play basket-
ball on the next level while majoring in Early Childhood Education. Her favorite teacher is Mr. White because he has taught her to better herself and never give up.
Good luck in all your future endeavors, Timbreanna!
This week’s spotlight also shines brightly on Justin Poitevint. Justin is a PHS senior and is a utility
player on the PHS baseball team. He is also a member of FCA, FFA, and PBC Youth Advisory Board. Justin works hard to get better at baseball
and to make good grades. Justin’s plans after high school are to go to college and
become a dentist or agricultural engineer. His biggest influence
during high school is Dr. Boyd who Justin says is a great teach-
er and someone he can go to for advice. His favor-ite part about PHS is being around all his friends. He also loves hunting and fishing. Good luck in all
your future plans, Justin!
Congratulations to Mr. Todd, PCS
Teacher of the Year and
Mrs. Jenkins, PHS Employee of the
Year

The moon is moving away at a tiny, although measurable distance from the earth every year. Do the math and you will clearly see that 85 million years ago it was orbiting the earth at a distance of about 35 feet
from the earth's surface. This would explain the death of the dinosaurs; the tallest ones, anyway.
Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concen-trate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.
Oprah Winfrey I've been giving back since I was a teen, handing out turkeys at Thanksgiv-
ing and handing out toys at toys drives for Christmas. It's very important
to give back as a youth. It's as simple as helping an old lady across the street or giving up your seat on the bus for someone who is pregnant. Queen Latifah
Quotes of the Week
Best Dressed Student of the Week Congratulations Shanoah Tyler!
Best Friends of the Week
One of the greatest holidays we look forward to each year is Thanksgiving because of our families and all the delicious food we
share. In 1621 the Pilgrims and Wampanoag Indians had the first Thanksgiving. Thanks-giving was a holiday
celebrated more occa-sionally rather than each year. However, the Revolutionary War
sparked the celebra-tion of Thanksgiving all
across America in 1777. That still did not get the tradition going
like it is today. In 1863 Abraham Lincoln declared the last Thursday of November would be celebrated as Thanksgiving. This is what really started the celebration of Thanksgiving. The only
other change was when Franklin Roosevelt changed the date to the fourth Thursday in 1939. This year Thanksgiving falls on November 27. Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone! Enjoy the time
with family and friends, and be THANKFUL!

Jesse and Tyler are currently sophomores at PHS; they have been friends since 9th grade. When Jesse was a new student here, they
walked up to each other, introduced them-selves, and started talking from that day on. They both enjoy joking around and playing
sports together. Tyler likes the fact that he can always depend on Jesse to be there for him whenever he needs someone to talk to. Jesse says that Tyler is a very dependable and trust-
worthy person who knows exactly how he feels. A memorable moment that they share is wres-tling together this year. They have created a
great bond, full of enjoyment and laughter. They plan on keeping this friendship for a while!
Best Dressed Teacher of the

Parent Chat
November 20, 2014 is Parent Engagement Day!. A "Parent Chat" is planned for 8:15 a.m. in the PHS Media Center. Mrs. NeSmith and Mrs.
Lewis are going to be on hand to discuss with parents the new Ga EOC's and how parents can help their students prepare for these. Donuts and coffee will be served. Parents, please take a look at the different ideas that
the GADOE has published that are on a calendar (printed on the back of the Parent Involvement newsletter for November) sent home with stu-dents; it can also be accessed from the school website. These are various
Parent Engagement ideas for parents of high school students to try throughout the month of November which is National Parent Engagement Month. See you on Nov. 20th!
