PLATFORM ENERGY TRANSITION BUILT ENVIRONMENT (PeGO)
Transition to clean, affordable and reliable energy
in the Netherlands
Aim Dutch Energy Transition: sustainable energy by 2050 energy is to be clean, affordable and available
Pragmatic approach, making use of available possibilitiesin both the short term and the long term.
Business Community, governments, knowledge institutes and civilorganizations are taking the lead in seven themes:
• Sustainable Mobility• Biobased Raw Materials • Chain Efficiency• New Gas• Sustainable Electricity• The ‘Greenhouse as Energy Source’• Energy in the built Environment

PLATFORM ENERGY TRANSITION BUILT ENVIRONMENT (PeGO)
Energy Transition in the built Environment
Target:• Energy neutrality new buildings by 2020• Halving primary energy demand existing stock by 2030
General approach:
• Working towards innovative, energy-neutral suburbs• Integral collaboration and concept development,
process-based knowledge development/dissemination, coalition of trend-setters, regulations
Three connected groups:• MEER MET MINDER (More with Less)• Innovation Group• Legislation Group

Energy Transition in the built Environment
- the importance of efficiency in the existing stock
• Total primary energy usage in the Netherlands: 3200 Petajoules (PJ)
• Builts Environment: roughly 1000 PJ
• Each year some 70.000 new buildings • Total existing stock: roughly 7.000.000 buildings!

Energy Transition in the built Environment
Most important Challenges
• Knowledge diffusion: faster processing of proven
innovations in generic regulations
• Knowledge diffusion: creating more momentum from lessons learned by trend-setters and their projects
• Boosting integral collaboration throughout the entire
sector
