MULTISPORT SCOREBOARD PEGASUS LEVEL 1

DESCRIPTION

Multi-sport electronic scoreboard unit, updated to meet 2010 offical Basketball Rules, and certified by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) for LEVEL 1 competitions (Olympic Games, Official World Championships and Continental Championships). This scoreboard provides clear and complete information about all the relevant parameters of the highest FIBA competition games. The outer metal structure has rigidisers that make it a very solid unit. The metal frame is coated in black goffered polyester powder ovenpolymerised at 200°C. The hole rectangular scoreboard is composed of 10 modules joined together (see GENERAL DIMENSIONS drawing for further information). The luminous digits are made up of very high luminosity LED diodes with great angularity, which enables them to be seen from any part of the court. The different digits that make up the scoreboard are manufactured with printed circuit plates where the LEDs, which define the segments, are placed. The displays are located on the front, protected with methacrylate. Its specific design enables all the electronic components to be operated from the front of the scoreboard, so it does not need to be removed from its location. Electronically, its design is based on the use of latest-generation microprocessors with programmable internal memory, which enables the scoreboard to be adapted to future changes in regulations. It is connected to the wall scoreboard with HERCULES control consoles. The latter are connected to the wall scoreboard by (100 metres) screened cable and they use 220V/50Hz electrical current.

The control elements, power supply and acoustic signal are located in the central module. The acoustic signal is achieved by means of a horn with 2 trumpets and air-pressurised excitation. The acoustic signal is activated automatically when the game time ends and can be manually activated to indicate start/end of time out, player changeover, etc... The time the acoustic signal lasts can easily be modified just by a simple operation on the control panel.

FUNCTIONS

- Home and visitors team scores with 30 cm red-coloured digits. - Game period (25 cm digit). - Time out indications with 5 luminous dots, with possibility of upgrading to 6. - Game time (in minutes/seconds) by means of four 30 cm-green-coloured digits. The game time can be selected to

count up or down depending on the chosen sport. When it works in descending mode, the seconds and tenths of a second are shown during the last minute.

- Luminous, arrow-shaped indicators, one for each team, which show which team has committed the foul or which team has ball possession.

- Fouls accumulated by each team by means of 25 cm digit. - Fouls committed by each player and coach by means of led dots (the first four in green and the fifth in red, with

possibility of increasing to six). The coach will have one green dot and one red dot. - Programmable player numbers in red green-coloured 15 cm digits. - Points scored by each player, by means of red-coloured 15 cm digits. - Programmable player names in red (12 field players per team + coach, 15 cms size). They are made up of led

diodes and can be programmed through a PC (not supplied with the scoreboard). The software necessary to carry out this programming must be installed in this computer.

- Programmable team names in red led digits over the score. Number of letters showed depend on the height: o 9 letters of 10-12 cms o 8 letters of 8 cms o 4 letters of 21 cms

- Clock and thermometer function when scoreboard is not being used for scoring. - Free space (2.200 X 600 mm) for advertising, available for the customer. Its could also be used to include

handball option accessory (see ACCESORIES, reference ME0100)

In order to introduce the data in PEGASUS scoreboard, a CD including MONDOTEXT is supplied. Mondotext is a software designed to control the alphanumeric panels of the Pegasus scoreboard. Mondotext uses a database capable of managing information about sport teams, such as the name of the teams, coaches, and players. Mondotext has to be installed in a computer (not included) with Windows operatig system. The computer needs a free serial port (or a USB port with a USB to serial converter). Once the software is properly installed, the computer has to be cable connected to the main Hercules console.

TYPE OF COMMUNICATION

MONDO PEGASUS LEVEL 1 could be manufactured with cable or radiofrequency communication between the consoles and the scoreboard.

* Cable communication:

Cable communication is carried out between the scoreboard and the console with a 100-metre cable, which is supplied with the scoreboard.The protocol used is RS485, a differential data transmision system that reaches large distances without interferences and allows several scoreboards to simultaneously receive the data transmitted by one single console.

* Radiofrequency communication:

The following are the general features of radiofrequency communication:

- Radiofrequency link in commonly-used band (licence-free): 433.05-434.79 MHz - Scope of up to 120 metres in direct visibility. - Narrow band channels (50KHz), minimising the possibility of interferences. - Up to 34 different channels, which allows connecting up to 34 independent scoreboards by

radiofrequency in the same premises and controlled by one single console. - Manchester code (50% redundancy) plus 25% additional redundant bits, which makes it almost

impossible to accept information affected by interferences as valid. - Information continuously refreshed, which optimises effectiveness in environments with a high

interference level. MONDO strongly advise cable communication for big indoor halls and big sport events, where the frequency could be affected by other systems working wireless. If it’s a radiofrequency scoreboard, MONDO strongly advise either to install nor to storage the 100 m-cable supplied, in order that it might be used whenever radiofrequency communication problems might appear.

CONSOLES

The attractive and ergonomic design of HERCULES console makes it light and highly resistant at the same time. Easy to handle, it clearly displays all the game parameters. This console is divided into two modules:

- Central score console (main Hercules console): where the sport that is going to be controlled is selected. The following sports can be selected: basketball, volleyball, tennis, roller hockey, 5-a-side football, handball, pelota, ice hockey and waterpolo. Depending on this selection the scoring system and game time will start in agreement with the regulations of the chosen sport. The score, time outs, fouls and possession indicator arrow are controlled from it. High luminosity leds display the same information that is being displayed on the wall scoreboard. The enter (+ and -) keys are used to update the values, which will be modified on the console and on the scoreboard.

- Time console: controls the period, the time and change from minutes/seconds to seconds/tenths-hundredths. The

console stores all the data in its memory, preventing them from being lost if there is a power cut. It has a function that allows a quick check of all the digits.

Both consoles are supplied in a case.

INSTALLATION AND USE

To install the wall scoreboard the necessary “z” type metal parts and expansive plugs with screws are supplied. If the support on which these pieces have to be installed is different from solid cement consult for the appropiate type of anchorage.

It could also be installed hung from any structure of the indoor hall building. MONDO could design a special structure for such a case but additional information of the building should be provided by the customer.

This product has been designed to be the main scoreboard, for indoor top level competitions, specially for FIBA level 1 events. It is only allowed to use it together with other MONDO electronic devices as accessories, otherwise it would be consider as a wrong use of the equipment. MONDO can not guarantee the desired compatibility between PEGASUS level 1 and other different devices from other companies. Both PEGASUS level 1 and its console are supplied by means of electric connections of 220 volts/50 Hz. A connection is needed for the mural scoreboard, 1 connection for PEGASUS and another at the location of the consoles. The manufacturer reserves the right to modify the information without prior notice.
