Using The Sidekick

Unlike other e-books you may have seen in the past, this e-book was created to look the same as a regular print guidebook ... but with added features and interactivity!

Interactive FeaturesIf you’re viewing this e-book with Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 or higher (available freely from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html ), you can personalize pages, fill in worksheets and charts, and save your information! Whenever you see a page with red text like this, you can select it by mousing over it and clicking, then personalize it with your own information (or just deleting it). Worksheets and charts are also capable of accepting your text and saving it with this e-book. If you’re not sure what to type, just hover your mouse over a field for a tip. Try it!

BookmarksWe’ve bookmarked each chart, worksheet, and section so you can go right to the place that interests you. Look for the Bookmark section in Adobe Acrobat and click the entries to zoom right to the page you want—it’s an electronic table of contents.

HyperlinksWe’ve created clickable hyperlinks for every web address in this book. Just click and you’ll instantly be connected to the particular web site (assuming you’re online).

PrintingWe’ve carefully formatted this document so it can be printed easily. There are a variety of ways to do it, depending on your needs. Here are the details:

Simple Print—Just press the Print button or select Print from your File menu while you’re in Adobe Acrobat. What you see is what you get.

Print for PassPorter—To print this e-book so it can be placed into your deluxe PassPorter, you’ll want to be sure that the pages print at the correct size (5.5” wide by 8.5” tall). This can be tricky. To print pages at the right size, bring up your Print settings in Adobe Acrobat and look for a “Page Scaling” option—make sure it is either turned off or set at “None.” While this e-book was design for single-sided printing, you can print the pages “back-to-back” (on both sides of the paper) if you wish—to do this, print only the odd pages of the book, take those pages and place them back in the printer, and then print the even pages of the book. Once the pages are printed, trim them to 5.5” x 8.5” and then use a hole punch to punch out the six marked holes (for insertion in a deluxe binder) or trim the pages on the dotted line (to insert them in the PassPocket of a spiral edition).

Print and Bind—If you want this book printed and bound for you, there are several options. Print(fu) will take a PDF and turn it into a printed book for you—this book will cost roughly $6 plus shipping. For details, visit http://www.printfu.org . Another option is Kinko’s, which will print a PDF file sent to them electronically—you then pick it up in your local store. For details, visit http://www.kinkos.com . You can download a copyright release form at http://www.passporter.com/wdw/sidekick/release.pdf

Stuck? If you have problems printing in Adobe Acrobat Reader, visit this web page for tips: http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/315727.html

SharingWe know it is tempting to simply e-mail this file to a friend or family member, but we encourage you to instead send them to a link to purchase the book. Without support, we won’t be able to keep this e-book updated or produce future e-books. Here’s the link you can give others: http://www.passporter.com/wdw/sidekick.asp

Are you trying to figure out how to get from your resort to everywhere else? This section offers 24 charts showing point-to-point directions for Disney transportation from each Disney resort, theme park, and Downtown Disney. These charts supplement the more succinct Disney Property Transportation Chart (which we’ve also included at the end of the section). We suggest you print out those charts that pertain to your trip and tuck them in your PassPorter Walt Disney World guidebook.

Note that we while we may show some alternate routes, we tend to only offer information on those routes that are most efficient. If more than one option is listed, the first option is usually the faster and/or more reliable method.

If there are any important or helpful notes about a particular resort or park’s transportation, we’ve noted it below each chart. If you’d like to make your own notes, we’ve left space below each chart for you.

To get official transportation advice from Disney, phone 407-WDW-RIDE (407-939-7433).

More information on Disney transportation is on pages 118–119 of the PassPorter Walt Disney World guidebook, as well as within each resort section in Chapter 3 of the guidebook.

The photo to the right shows the bus stop area outside of the All-Star Sports resort—the bus stops areas for All-Star Movies and Music look very similiar. Benches are available under the shaded area behind the large letters seen in the photo. Lines for buses can grow very long in busy seasons. Note that it is possible to walk from the All-Stars to both Blizzard Beach and Coronado Springs, but you should allow at least 30–40 minutes.
