A World Without Boundaries

I have created a roller coaster on a globe using a soft material often found in playgrounds and made my entire project very

colourful in order to make it look bright, playful and cheerful. I used a globe to show the earth. I made people in the seats of

the roller coaster holding various placards. These placards include – ‘No Racial Discrimination’, ‘No Poverty’, ‘Exploring without Boundaries’, ‘No War’, ‘Live in Peace and Harmony’,

and ‘Equality for All’. I have also made bright coloured flowers on the base to show that it is a happy environment where

everyone is blooming and prospering.

My submission is unique as I feel I have targeted some of the biggest problems faced by humanity and tried to tackle it not physically but rather symbolically, in an

abstract way. I have decided to create a model instead of an animation or drawing or photograph. My

submission is unique as it is an original thought and idea that came to me as my mind wandered off during a

daily activity as simple as riding in a car.

How is your submission unique?

One day as i was riding in my car, i saw at a redlight, a small homeless boy running a brick over the footpath as though it was a car and then an expensive and fancy BMW drove past him. This instantly hit me as a reality check which made me realise what a harsh and cruel thing disparity and inequality is. So

when i got this project from pearl academy, i thought why not depict the world abstractly and create something which attempts to show the breaking of boundaries and the end of disparity. By using the

roller coaster as the medium of transportation, i wished to show the small hassles and ups and downs in the lives of individuals but at the same time, a thrilling and excitement filled journey that got a

person to the destination they wanted to go. The significance of the roller coaster running all over the globe is supposed to show how every place is easily accessible and people can explore without having to worry about any obstacles holding them back. I thought to myself that the world would be a much better place if different countries existed for the sole reason of easy governance and did not lead to

discrimination and superiority and competition. If the individuals wouldn't be denied wishing to see the beauty and witness the culture of another country, and if everyone in the world could afford to travel (have the means to achieve their goals) to their final destinations. Wouldn't life be like a roller coaster ride then? Having its ups and downs but so thrilling and exciting and daring and taking us somewhere

different from where we first started.

What has inspired your work?
