Some of the assistants have learned to facilitate her

speech and written work using

Facilitated Communication.

She is also part of a group of young people who offer training to mainstream schools and colleges on inclusion, for which she gets paid. Her assistants are trained by her mother to manage her diabetes”

B. People who are still close but not quite make it into A

C. Acquaintances and colleagues- people who you have shared activities or interest who learn form you or you from them. Social groups etc.

D. People who are paid to be in your life

14

Activity 4: Relationships Circles 5 mins • How many people in total – all circles?• Will this change in the future is it different form 10

years ago?• What makes the difference between A and B • This is your “Normal” life Circle.

“C” is very important this is where we build new life circles from form relationships have a ‘Voice’ in the world.

If you have a disability especially from childhood the view is different.

Reflection

What do you think children with SEN would do with these activities?

How would they remember their school days?

How will this shape their futures ?

Will their school experiences prepare them for the future ?

16

Will you be the one they remember,

who made school and learning relevant and a live to them ?

Who helped them to work with other students and be valued?
