The Web Server will allow you to use your existingoperator interface graphic displays as the basis forproviding real-time process information to your plantmanagement team. Graphics can be created using thestandard DeltaV configuration tool to provide a customview for management or other non-operator personnel. To
provide optimal performance displays to be converted forthe Web Server should contain only the top-level real-timeprocess data.
DeltaV Web Server showing alarms and events
Events
The DeltaV systems alarm history feature lets you viewalarms through your browser so that you can respondinstantly to an alarm situation or analyze process eventsfrom your desktop. All alarm and event data that iscollected locally on the Web Server Application Stationcan be viewed on the browser.
Historical trends in the Web Browser.
Historic Trends
In addition to process graphics and events, you can lookat historic trend information. Up to four trends may beviewed simultaneously. With the DeltaV Historian accessfunctions, you review historical data and recent trends inyour automation system. All historical data that is
collected locally on the Web Server Application Stationcan be viewed on the browser.
Real-time Trends
The Web Server can also sample your current local tagvalues (i.e. tag values local to the Application Station) tocreate real-time trends that update every several seconds.Up to four real-time trends may be viewed simultaneously.
Web Server Deployment
With the DeltaV Web Server you can use your webbrowser to access your operations. The DeltaV WebServer was built to work with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Many users have expressed the need for securecommunications. You can securely access your plantsproduction data and other documents from anywhere onearth when you use appropriate protection (e.g. firewalls, routers, VPN access, and operating system securityprotection). All remote access to the WebServer should bedone by the remote user making a secure connection tothe plant LAN and then connecting to the WebServer.
In order to connect to the DeltaV Web Server, the usermust make a Web Server connection. The browserconnection to the DeltaV Web Server is based on a 24-hour period and is specific to the IP Address of the clientconnecting. That Web Server connection will stay
consumed by that specific IP address computer for 24hours after the user logs off the Web Server or is loggedoff by the server after the inactivity timeout. Therefore, ifyou log into a WebServer session every day, you becomea permanent user of that license and the license cannot beshared with another user on a different computer.
The DeltaV Web Server has been designed to work bestwith the DeltaV system. The speed at which the clientupdates is dependent upon several factors, including thespeed of the modem connection, speed of the server andclient, as well as the amount of memory they have. At thistime, the Web Server does not support other OPC servers. While the main elements of the DeltaV Intranet Explorer
may work using other browsers, the use of other browsersand other operating systems is not supported.
