PDL – DAY ONE 2011 – New Year A fresh start is really good news to all of us. It brings us energy, and refuels our passion. Q: Have you ever experienced promising yourself something good but along the way you start to miss out until you give up and not reach the end of it? A: Most of us have. That’s why every start of the year, New Year’s resolution has been a trending topic. Some of us even make a list of what they want to do or happen for the rest of the year. Top ten list of New Year’s resolution: (dailypress.com) 1. Di et or Lose weight 2. Qu it Smok in g 3. Exercise 4. Qu it Drinking 5. Stop proc rastinatin g (E. g. Don’t be l ate) 6. Sa ve mon ey 7. Go t o ch ur ch 8. Wak e up earl y 9. Sto p cur si ng 10. Read the newspaper To be successful: lawyer travel the world doctor basketball player popularity win more friends But none of these are meaningful apart from knowing the real purpose why on earth we are here on this planet. Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren It All Starts with God Collosians 1:16 “For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.” Prayer It’s not about you. This world would tell you to: Consider your dreams Clarify your values Set some goals Figure out what you are good at Aim high Go for it Just do it Be disciplined Believe you can achieve your goals Never give up These are not bad but these are dangerous if we are in the wrong direction. Ex. Never give up on love life (even if it clearly shows it’s not worth all the pain). Just do it (sexual immoralities). Consider your dream to be a celebrity even If you know God is calling you to be writer. The purpose for your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace if mind, or even your happiness. Your purpose is far greater than your family, career, or even your wildest dreams. Being successful and fulfilling your life’s purpose are not at all the same issue! You could reach all your personal goals, becoming a raving success by the world’s standard, and still miss the purposes for which God created you.
