High Output 4.6L Northstar V8 delivers. This renowned premium 32-valve dual overhead cam aluminum engine takes

Lucerne Super off the mark with real authority and excels as speeds and rpms increase. Super’s handling is equally

advanced, thanks to the Magnetic Ride Control suspension that reads the road 1000 times a second and automatically

adjusts shock absorber damping accordingly. And the Magnasteer® speed-sensitive, variable-assist power steering

THOUGHTFULEVEN THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL IS PRECISE. Interior temperature and comfort are inextricably linked in a

fi ne automobile. Lucerne offers you a head start with the available remote vehicle starter system that uses memory

pre-sets to select your preferred temperature setting. The climate system enables you to customize your

comfort with automatic dual-zone controls, standard on CXL and Super. Heated and cooled seats and a heated

SMARTSELF REGULATING. Lucerne’s technology is so intelligent, it regulates itself. While Lucerne’s two engines generate robust power, they also

employ advanced engine management features that enable them to run effi ciently. The High Output 4.6L Northstar V8 is equipped with a

sophisticated engine control module and the 3.9L V6 employs Variable Valve Timing that optimizes the engine’s combustion timing. Meanwhile,

the rear auto level control suspension helps maintain optimal ride height, based on the load you’re carrying. Lucerne’s engineering and

technology takes care of itself, enabling you to focus on the driving experience.

3.9L V6 ENGINE

The 227 hp 3.9L V6 engine features Variable Valve Timing (VVT). VVT helps maximize power and torque by continuously adjusting the opening and closing of the engine’s valves, using an electronically controlled variable camshaft phaser. This FlexFuel engine can run on gasoline or E85 ethanol and is standard on CX and CXL.

4.6L NORTHSTAR V8 ENGINE

The High Output 4.6L Northstar V8 is an all-aluminum engine with 32 valves and dual overhead camshafts. Output is 292 hp at 6300 rpm and 288 lb.-ft. of torque at 4500 rpm. The engine features a sophisticated Engine Control Module (ECM) with a 16-bit, 24MHz dual microprocessor. The Northstar V8is standard on Lucerne Super.

PEACEFULQUIET. IN 26 DIFFERENT FORMS. Quiet is not achieved easily in an

automobile. It requires a systematic approach that must address the

causes of noise, not simply provide extensive acoustic insulation.

QuietTuning represents a comprehensive series of noise reduction

and sound absorbing measures. In fact, Lucerne incorporates 26

separate QuietTuning technologies and tactics. A good example

is provided by the aforementioned rakish windshield angle. It not

only enhances Lucerne’s style; it also reduces wind drag, which

reduces noise – while increasing fuel efficiency. That is something

worth contemplating in the remarkably quiet Lucerne cabin.

QUIETTUNING

The fi rst stage of QuietTuning is to reduce noise at its source, by applying specifi c acoustic engineering methods to everything from the tire’s tread pattern to the damping of the engine mounts. Not all noise can be eliminated, so the second stage of the process is to block the noise path through the use of acoustic sealers, barriers and shields, as well as specially laminated steel and glass. Any remaining noise is then fi ltered through an array of acoustic absorbers inside the cabin.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING

Lane drifting is another preventable hazard in Lucerne, thanks to the available lane departure warning system. It uses a camera mounted on the windshield to read the road’s lane divider lines. If the camera detects that you are drifting out of your lane, it alerts you through audio and visual warnings from the instrument panel.**

SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT

Blind spots are unavoidable – on both the left and right sides of every vehicle on the road. Lucerne offers a technologically advanced driver aid. The available side blind zone alert employs radar technology to scan a 150° arc on both sides of Lucerne. When a vehicle enters either of these zones, it triggers an LED symbol alert in the appropriate exterior rear-view mirror.

STABILITRAK

StabiliTrak continuously monitors steering angle, wheel speeds, brake pressure and lateral acceleration. If the system detects a lateral skid, StabiliTrak intervenes by adjusting brake pressure and engine power to help return Lucerne to your intended driving line. StabiliTrak with brake assist is standard on Super and is available on other models.
