Chapter 1: Introduction The FGCdef program is especially designed for creating and downloading a system definition file for the following systems:

• CS3000 version 6 • FG3000 • GS3000 • AC3000 version 6

Before the above systems can be used it must be both physically and functionally defined. The Definition program is designed to run on a computer that can support Microsoft Windows 98, NT, XP or 2000. This manual consists of a functional description of the FGCdef program where the emphasis is put on how to work with the different program modules and how to program the external controls, using the Salwico language. In the last chapter you will find a complete description of the Salwico language commands as well as several application examples on how to use the Salwico language. This manual is valid for program version 6.11

Chapter 2: Definition Program installation This chapter provides basic information about the requirement in order to install the definition program and how to run it. The system requirements are also described in this chapter.

System requirements Recommended minimum PC requirements:

• Pentium 200 • Windows 98, NT, XP or 2000 • VGA monitor (1024x768) • 128 MB RAM • 20MB available hard disc space • Serial port

Install the Definition Program To install the FGCdef definition program start Microsoft Windows and follow this procedure:

1. Insert the program disc in your compact disc driver. 2. Locate the file “fgcdef.exe” and copy it to a desired local

directory on your computer.

Run the Definition Program To start the definition program follow the procedure below:

1. Locate the file “fgcdef.exe” on your computer. 2. Double click on the file “fgcdef.exe” 3. The program should now start and the login dialog window

should appear on the screen.

4. Enter your access code and signature. 5. The main program window is opened and you can start a new

definition file or open an existing one.

Exit the Definition Program

1. Choose FILE in the main menu 2. Select EXIT in the file menu 3. If you have changed a parameter in the Definition program, the

program will ask you to save the changes (unless they have already been saved). The saved definition file will have the extension “.fgc”.

Chapter 3: How to make a system definition

General This section describes how you make a system definition and how you download the definition file to a 3000 system. The basic structure of the Definition program is the five menus: Installation, System, Supplementary text, Control unit and Central. When you make a definition you select the modules one by one. You can interrupt at any time, save it to a file and continue later.

Functional description It is easier to work with the FGCdef definition program if you have some knowledge about the function of the system. Following section gives you a brief description of the CS3000 system function and the Definition program function.

The Salwico CS3000 system. A CS3000 fire alarm system must be defined before it can be used:

• Physical-What What kind of system PCB’s, detectors etc does the system consist of? The physical configuration is defined to achieve fault supervision of the different system components such as sections, loop units, system PCB’s etc. The system definition must be changed if the physical configuration is changed

• Functional-How How shall the system work? Is it industrial or marine, which detectors shall belong to which section etc.

• Supplementary text- Where Each loop unit can be given a descriptive text explaining its location. This text is displayed at the control- and repeater panels

• I/O – When Defines how the inputs and outputs of the system shall react. For example: “Bells on deck 3 is activated when there is a fire alarm in zone 4”.

The definition program FGCdef. The definition program is a modular program, divided into five functionally well-defined modules. The five modules (Installation, System, Supplementary text, Control Unit and Central) are used to define the CS3000 system both physically and functionally. After the definition has been done, the Main menu is used to manage the definition files, to load files into the program, save a definition file update or to download a system file into the CS3000 system. When defining the modules one by one you will have to enter different settings. See later on in this chapter for detailed information about each module. The Installation module includes text fields in which the name and reference of the project shall be entered. Give the installation a specific name to make it easier to document each installation. There is also a free text field used for revision history. In the System module there are some global settings for the system, such as the type of installation and the function of the system. The date format is also defined in this module. In the CS3000 system you may add supplementary text describing the loop units physical location. These texts are defined in the Supplementary text module. In the Control Units module you configure the control units and maxi repeater panels in the system. There can be up to sixteen control/maxi repeater units in one system. In the Central module each CS3000 central in the system is defined physically and functionally. The physical configuration is when central boards, serial communication ports, loops and loop units are defined. The functional definitions define how the in- and outputs of the system should react, and are made with the Salwico language described in chapter 4: The Salwico language.

The main window The main window is displayed when you start the program and it is from here that you select the module you want to work with. Use the main window when you want to update, download or save a definition file.

The command menu The command menu is only viewable if a definition file is active. The content in the command menu adapts to which module is active. The default content: Download: To download a definition file to the central unit. Import CSD file: Import an existing definition file with the file extension “.CSD”.

Installation Module In the installation module you may enter basic data about the installation. Data about customer company name, the installer company name, revision history or anything that you think is relevant for the installation.

System module In the system module the global system settings are made.

The System dialog box Installation type: Choose whether the installation is marine or industrial. This affects how the system will function to comply with the different regulations for marine and industrial applications. Max detector address: Choose between 99 or 150 detector addresses/loop. The option 99 addresses/loop is only used for backward compatibility with old installations. Language: Choose desired language. Available languages are: English, Swedish and Danish. Date format: Choose date format. Use multimaster: Select if the multimaster function shall be enabled. The multimaster function is when the LPK-2 in central 2 takes over the system communication if the LPK-2 in central 1 is defective. Detector point: Only used when 99 addresses/loop is chosen. Will present addresses as 3 digit numbers at the control panel. For example: address 83 becomes 83.0. 2 sec. Key delay: This function determines the functions of the Alarm reset and Fault reset keys. If the box is checked, the above keys needs to be depressed 2 seconds to be activated. Dirty detector as fault: Access codes: Specify the passwords for access level 2 and 3 on the control panel.

Supplementary text module In the 3000 system you may add supplementary text to all the zones and addressable loop units. These texts are presented on row two in the control panel upon alarm or fault or on the mini repeaters MN3000 via LPK tableau. The supplementary texts are downloaded separately to the system in the same way as the saved definition file. You may also print out the supplementary texts. There are two types of text files that can be created with FGCdef-3000:

• Texts for ME-4 control unit. • Texts for MN3000 repeater panel via LPK tableau.

Each text file are created under respectively tab in the supplementary text module.

Description of the fields in the control unit ME-4 tab:

Project: A free text field for entering the project name. Delimiters: Possibility to choose delimiters for word splitting when compiling. Normally set to “ “ (space). Adrtype: Possibility to choose 99 or 150 addresses/loop. Normally set to 150. The alternative with 99 addresses is for backward compatibility. Zone: Enter the zone/section number Start: Here you specify the interval of loop addresses sharing the same supplementary text. Enter the start address with a zero added. For example: Address 23=230 End: Enter the last address in the above interval. Texts: Enter the supplementary text max 40 characters.

Description of the fields in the tableau texts tab:

Main text: This text will show on the MN3000 repeater in normal condition, together with the system time. Terminals: Enter how many MN3000 repeaters that are connected. Function alarm send: If set to NO it gives possibility to reset a fire alarm from a repeater with control capability even if the reset function mute/reset alarms has been blocked by the system. Normally set to YES (function not activated). Function more alarm: Defines the function of LED2 on the MN3000 panel. Normally set to YES. Set to NO if old panels with engraved fronts (no sticker front) are used (before 1995). Zone: Enter the zone/section number Start: Here you specify the interval of loop addresses sharing the same supplementary text. Enter the start address without a zero added. For example: Address 23=23 End: Enter the last address in the above interval. Text1, text2, and text3: It is possible to have 3 different texts connected to each loop unit address. Where each text should be shown is defined in the View/reset column. Row1: Enter the supplementary text to be displayed at the first row, max 20 characters. Row2: Enter the supplementary text to be displayed at the second row, max 20 characters.

View/reset: Defines the view/control capabilities for MN3000 repeaters. Enter the address number of the repeaters that should show the text information. By entering a * symbol after the address, the repeater will also be able to mute/reset alarms. For example: There are 5 repeaters, 1-5. MN3000 repeater

The toolbar:

New - Create a new list with supplementary text.

Open – Import an existing supplementary text.

Save - Save the active supplementary text.

Cut - Cut the selection and put it on the Clipboard.

Copy - Copy the selection and put it on the Clipboard.

Paste - Insert Clipboard contents.

Print - Print the active supplementary text.

About - Display program information, version number and copyright.

New tab – Adds a new tab for supplementary text.

Delete tab – Deletes the current tab with supplementary text.

Compile –Controls the syntax used in the Texts module (spelling, usage of intervals, etc.)

Insert row – Insert a new row in the current list with supplementary text. Can also be done by the shortcut commando: Ctrl+I

Delete row – Deletes a row in the current list with supplementary text. Can also be done by the shortcut commando: Ctrl+D

Create supplementary text for control panels ME4:

1. Open the supplementary text tab by double clicking on the “supplementary text” in the module tree view.

3. Click in the symbol to add rows in the list. It is also possible to import an existing text file with the file extension .TTX. If you import a file then skip step 4 below.

4. Enter the required information: zone, address and supplementary texts.

5. Compile the supplementary text. Any errors found will be marked with red. Fix the found errors.

6. Exit the supplementary text tab. The new texts will be saved automatically when you close the definition program.

Create supplementary texts for MN3000 repeaters via LPK tableau:

1. Open the supplementary text tab by double clicking on the “supplementary text” in the module tree view.

2. Choose Tableau and enter LPK address (217-232). Click OK

3. Click in the symbol to add rows in the list. It is also possible to import an existing text file with the file extension .TXT. If you import a file then skip step 4 below.

Control unit module In the control unit module you define the function of each control unit or maxi repeater MX3000 in the system.

Control unit tree By clicking the Control unit module in the module window the control unit tree with all 16 available control units appears.

The control unit tree To define and install a control unit/maxi repeater just double click on it and the Control unit dialog box appears.

The Control unit dialog box For each control unit you choose from the alternatives listed below. When the definitions of each control unit are finished, click the OK button to confirm the settings. If the Cancel button is clicked, nothing is changed for the control unit.

Description of the tabs in the control unit dialog box

Settings tab From the settings tab you configure printer options, if the control unit shall act as a repeater MX3000, if supplementary texts shall be displayed and the function of the internal buzzer.

The settings tab in control unit dialog box Type of printer: Choose printer type. Normally external shall be chosen:

• Internal “Tongue” printer, (only prints fire) • External

Messages to print: Choose what a connected printer should print: • Fire & Fault messages • All information • Fire, Fault and disconnections

Prescribe I/O: Choose Prescribe I/O if the status of in- and outputs shall be viewable from the control unit. Passive display units: This function determines if it shall be possible to acknowledge/reset on this control unit. Check the box to inhibit acknowledge/reset possibility. Buzzer at alarm and open door: Check the box if you want the buzzer to sound whenever there is an unacknowledged fire alarm or fault, regardless if the control unit door is open or not. Un-checking the box will make the buzzer to cease sounding when the control unit door is open.

Central module In the Central module each central in the system is physically and functionally defined. You can have up to 16 centrals in one system. The physical definition is when central boards, serial communication ports, zones, loops and loop units are defined. The functional definitions defines how the in- and outputs of the system should react, and are made under Programmable controls with the Salwico language described in the chapter The Salwico language, later on in this manual.

The communication boards are addressable interface boards used for connecting the CS3000 system to external computers, modems, terminals, mimics, etc. The communication boards are optional and the central unit may be equipped with up to two RS232 or KPK-2 boards, where each board has two RS232 channels and two RS485 channels. Loop dialog box Description of the fields Loop not installed/Installed as: Choose if you want to install a normal loop (addressable) or a GSK-loop (conventional). Note: GSK loops can only be defined from even (2,4,6 etc) loop addresses. If you choose normal loop, the tab Zone will appear. Proceed to Loop/Zone and Loop connection. Control unit: Choose which control units this loop shall be controlled from. Please note that the control unit must be defined to control this particular central under control unit in the module tree window. Zone tab Each addressable zone/section must be defined in the zone tabs.

To import a definition file from the system When you want to view or make changes in an existing definition file you can get it from the central. To do this you choose Download in the Command menu. The following dialog box appears:

Download dialog box By selecting COM1 or COM2 in the dialog box you choose which serial communication port to use. After Upload to PC Def Data is clicked you are able to choose which definition file to get from the central unit.

To save a definition file A definition file is saved into the Definition program under File in the Main menu. A definition file is not saved automatically. However if you try to close the definition file without saving, the program will ask whether the changes should be saved or not. If it is a new definition file you choose Save As in the File menu and give the file a name. You can give the file any name you like as long as the extension is not longer than three characters. The extension .fgc is used to point out the definition files and we recommend you to use this extension to keep track of your definition files. The filename is displayed in the title bar of the Main program window after the file has been saved in the program. If you have made changes in an already existing definition file it is practical to save over the old file in the same name. Choose Save in the File menu. After saving the file you can close it, exit the Definition program or download the definition file to the central unit. When you download the definition file you will automatically be asked to save it.

Chapter 4 The Salwico Language One essential part of defining a fire alarm system is to specify how the fire alarm system shall react on certain events, for example what shall happen when a manual call point is depressed. To help you to make these definitions we have developed a Salwico language that consists of a set of commands and a well-defined syntax. You enter the commands into an editor in the Programmable controls menu in the Definition program.

General Syntax Let us examine the nature of the programming language. The language is based on the general form: Input [: Timer] => Output; With the Input commands you determine and control the activities of the outputs, i.e. the function of the system. The input is evaluated by the system and the result can be true or false. The corresponding output expression is activated if the Input is true. You may add a time condition, Timer, to the Input. The Output expression is then activated if the Input expression is still true when the time condition has elapsed. Otherwise, the Output expression is not activated since the input condition is false when the time condition has elapsed. The arrow sign => is a punctuation mark between Input and Timer on one side and Output on the other side. If a Timer expression is added, it must be preceded by a colon (:). The Output must always be terminated by a semicolon (;). Example: SEC 1 : TIMER 60 S => OUTCARD 1.4; If there is one or more alarms on section 1, output 4 on output board number 1 is activated after a time delay of 60 seconds. Output 4 remains passive if the alarm on section 1 is reset within 60 seconds.

When we look at the functionality of the input commands we can divide them into three groups: static inputs, system status inputs and section generated inputs. Static inputs The static input commands controls the output of one central unit and they specify which input or input interval that must be true before the corresponding output expression can be active. With these commands you also have the possibility to control both the inputs and the outputs from other connected central units. The static input commands are listed below. Commands Description CENTRAL Specifies numbers and types for inputs/outputs from

another central unit. CU DOOR Specifies if a door is open on a control unit. CU IN Specifies the inputs on the control unit. IN Specifies all the inputs in the central unit. INARK Specifies the inputs on the ARK-2. INCARD Specifies the inputs on the INK-2. System status inputs The commands in this group can only read the status of a function and the functions can only be changed from the control panel. The system status commands are listed below. Commands Description ALARM DELAY ON Reads the status of the Alarm Delay function on the central panel. FAULT IN SYSTEM Reads the fault status in the system. FIRE IN SYSTEM Reads the fire alarm status in the system. MUTE ALARM Reads the status of the fire alarms. OPEN DOOR Reads the status of the control unit doors. Section generated inputs The section-generated inputs can be of two types, Salwico commands or fault signal commands. The Salwico language only includes one Salwico command and one fault signal command. Commands Description FAULT SEC Specifies a fault in the rectifier in the selected section. SEC Specifies detectors and external devices for different

sections that may indicate fire alarm. ZONE Same as SEC

Timer The timer commands are very useful when you want to time delay an activation of the outputs or when you want to define a condition that only will activate the outputs if it is true before the delay time has elapsed. Please note that the command ALARM DELAY only can be used in a marine installation and the command ALARM HOLD only can be used in an industrial installation. Commands Description ALARM DELAY Specifies the alarm delay time for a marine

installation. ALARM HOLD Specifies the alarm hold time for an

industrial installation. TIMER Specifies activation delay time for the

inputs.

Output

There are two different ways of specifying an output. You can either use one command, the OUT command, to specify the ARK-2, the LPK-2 and the UTK-2 included in the system or you can use the board specific commands OUTARK, OUTCARD and OUTLPK. Commands Description MESSAGE Controls the detectors, manual call points,

sprinklers, LEDs on panels etc. OUT Specifies all the outputs in the central unit. OUTARK Specifies the outputs on the ARK-2. OUTCARD Specifies the outputs on the UTK-2. OUTLPK Specifies the outputs on the LPK-2. TWO Specifies if two or more inputs are in

alarm. This command can only be used in conjunction with an output command.

To facilitate the programming of long expressions you may use the FLAG command to create macros. This command can be used both for inputs as well as for outputs. Instead of printing a long expression repeatedly, you can define the expression once and then redirect it to the FLAG command. A total of 256 macros can be defined at the same time. Commands Description FLAG Macro command Example SEC 1 & SEC 2 & SEC 5 & SEC 9 & SEC 14 => FLAG 1; FLAG 1 => OUT 1; In this example one fire zone consists of five sections, section 1, 2, 5, 9 and 14. The Order of Evaluation in Expressions An expression is a valid combination of inputs, timers, outputs and logical operators that evaluates to a single result. The result represents a true or a false condition. The language evaluates the expressions in the following order: Operators shown on the same line are evaluated left to right within the expression. Parentheses are used to force the evaluation in a certain order. How you can use the parentheses are shown in the following two examples. ALARM DELAY - Marine Installation Specifies an alarm delay time for the last inputs specified before the AD command. The time delay acts on the inputs specified before the AD command. The function of this command is closely related to the setting of the alarm delay function on the control panel of the central. The delay time of the AD command is ignored if the DELAY OFF indicator on the control panel is lit. The time delay function may be overruled if you specify an input in the AD command and this input becomes true during the time delay, the output is then activated immediately because the input preceding the AD command is true.

Syntax AD [Time S] [Static Input]

Parameters Time S Specifies the alarm delay time in seconds. Do not forget to write a capital S (seconds) when a time is specified. The default time is 30 seconds, if the variable Time is omitted. ALARM HOLD - Industrial Installation Specifies an alarm mute and reset time for the inputs. The mute time act on the inputs specified in front of the AH command. The function of this command is closely related to the setting of the alarm hold function on the control panel. The mute time of the AH command is ignored if the alarm hold function on the control panel is set to on, i.e. the ALARM HOLD indicator is lit. The AH command is overruled if the specified inputs get true during the mute time. The specified output is then activated immediately since the input command in front of the AH command is true.

Syntax AH [Mute S, [Reset S,]] Input [, Condition]

Parameters Mute S Specifies the mute time in seconds. Do not forget to write a capital S (seconds) when the mute time is specified. If the variable Mute is omitted the default time is 30 seconds. Reset S Specifies the time to investigate and reset the fire alarm. If the variable Reset is omitted the default time is 180 seconds. Input Specifies the mute input, you can only specify one of the following commands: IN CU IN CU DOOR INARK INCARD Please note. The Static Input command CENTRAL may not be used. Condition Specifies the input conditions that will interrupt the time delay and activate the expression that is specified immediately before the AH command. A Condition is an expression that may consist of Static Inputs, System Status Inputs, Section Generated Inputs and logical operators.

Comments Reset. The Reset time can only be specified if the Mute time is specified. ALARM HOLD indicator. Parameters Number Specifies a number in the interval 1 - 152. Output number 1 - 6, 151 are the outputs on the ARK-2, output number 7 - 150 are the outputs on the UTK-2 and output number 152 is the output on the LPK-2. The specified outputs are controlled by the active inputs. The numbers for the corresponding command are listed on the next pages.

Comments Output 151. Output151 on ARK-2 can not be specified with

OUT command.

RESET FLAG x It is possible to add functionality to the macro command FLAG with the RESET FLAG command. If you want FLAG to change status on different events this is done by using the SET FLAG and RESET FLAG commands (the commands run parallel to each other).

SEC (same as ZONE) Specifies detectors and external devices for different sections that may indicate fire alarm. The SEC command is true when there is a fire alarm within the specified address interval. The command ZONE is identical to SEC.

Syntax SEC [Section][Type][Address - Address] ZONE [ZONE][Type][Address - Address]

Parameters Section Specifies the section/zone number. All sections in one central

unit are specified if you omit the section number. The section number is a number between 1- 999 depending on the configuration of the central unit.

ZONE Se Section above Type Specifies the detector type. One of the following types can be

used: Type Explanation M.CALL Manual call points. HEAT Heat detectors, both maximal and rate-

of-rise. SD Smoke detectors. FD Flame detectors. SPR Sprinklers. CENTRAL Sub central (conventional type). DET All automatic fire detectors, excluding

manual call point. ALL All fire detectors, including manual call

points. ADDRESS All fire detectors, including manual call

points. Address Specifies a single detector address or a detector address interval, from 0.0 to 150.1. The number after the point must always be printed when the point is printed.

Comments No parameters. The command reacts on all fire alarms on all sections in the central if you do not specify any parameter. Default values. The default value for Section is all sections. The default value for Type is ALL. Type. The function of the types ALL and ADDRESS are identical.

TIMER Specifies an alarm delay time for the inputs. The inputs specified before the TIMER command are time delayed. The time delay function may be overruled if you specify an input in the TIMER command and this input becomes true during a time delay, since the input preceding the TIMER command also is true the output is activated immediately.

Syntax TIMER [ Time S] [,Conditions]

Parameters Time S Specifies the alarm delay time in seconds. Always print S when a time is specified. Conditions Specifies the input conditions that will interrupt the time delay and control the output immediately.

Comments Default time. The default time for Time is 30 seconds.

Examples SEC 3 : TIMER 90 S => OUT 1; In this example a fire alarm on section 3 is time delayed for 90 seconds. SEC 1 : TIMER 840 S, IN 1 | NOT ALARM DELAY ON | SEC M.CALL => OUT 1; In this example a fire alarm on section 1 is time delayed for 840 seconds. If input 1 becomes true or ALARM DELAY ON is off or a manual call point in any sections is activated during the time delay, output 1 is activated immediately.

Chapter 5 Application examples This chapter includes a description of some common problems and how you may solve these problems when defining the system.

Problem 1 At a fire alarm anywhere in the system the outputs shall only be active as long as they are not muted. FIRE IN SYSTEM & NOT MUTE ALARM => OUT 3 ; A fire alarm makes output 3 on the ARK-2 board active, and the output remains active until all fire alarms are muted.

Problem 2 The same problem as in problem 1 but you need some time to investigate the alarm before the output should be activated. Although the output should be made active immediately if a manual call point is activated. FIRE IN SYSTEM & NOT MUTE ALARM : AD 120 S => OUT 4 ; If a detector alarm, from anywhere in the system, is not muted within 120 seconds output 4 on ARK-2 is activated, and it remains active until the fire alarm is muted. The output is not activated at all if the fire alarm is muted within 120 seconds. Output 4 is activated immediately if a manual call point is activated.

Problem 3 If there is a fire alarm from the selected sections the outputs shall only be active as long as the outputs are not muted. ( SEC 1 ¦ SEC 2 ) & NOT MUTE ALARM => OUT 2 ; A fire alarm in section 1 or 2 makes output 2 on the ARK-2 board active, and the output remains active until all fire alarms are muted.

Problem 4 The output shall be active as long as there is a fire in the selected sections. SEC 3 ¦ SEC 4 => OUTCARD 1.5 ; A fire alarm in section 3 or 4 makes output 5 on the UTK-2 board active, and the output remains active until all fire alarms are reset.

The output is not activated at all if the detector alarm is muted within 60 seconds.

Problem 6 An output is activated when a manual call point is activated anywhere in the system. SEC M. CALL => OUT 5 ; Output 5 on ARK-2 is made active when a manual call point is activated from anywhere in the central.

Problem 7 An output is activated when a detector, anywhere in the system, is indicating a fire alarm. SEC DET => OUT 6 ; Output 6 on ARK-2 is made active when there is a fire alarm from any detector in the central.

Problem 11 The output shall only be active when there are two or more detectors in an alarm. The output should not be active if there is only one detector in alarm. SEC 2 ADDRESS 5 - 20 => TWO OUT 6 ; Two or more detector alarms from section 2 address 5 - 20 makes output 6 on ARK-2 active. The output is made inactive when only one detector remains in alarm.
